Shaheed Jobanjeet Singh Laid To Rest: A Father’s Salute That Broke The Nation’s Heart
On January 23, 2026, Shaheed Jobanjeet Singh of the Indian Army was martyred in a tragic road accident in Doda, Jammu & Kashmir. He was among 10 brave soldiers who lost their lives when their vehicle slipped into a deep gorge on the Bhaderwah–Chamba road amid heavy snowfall.
The final farewell was filled with emotion and pride. During the last rites, Jobanjeet Singh’s father, an ex-serviceman, stood in uniform and gave a final salute to his son’s mortal remains — a moment that reflected a soldier’s discipline and a father’s unbearable grief.
Jobanjeet Singh was the only son of his family and was set to begin a new chapter of life. His wedding was scheduled for February 2026, just weeks after the tragic incident that took him away too soon.
A resident of village Chanauli near Sri Anandpur Sahib in Punjab, Jobanjeet had joined the Indian Army in 2019. His body was brought back to his native village, where he was cremated with full military honors.
The tragedy has left Punjab in mourning. Local leaders, villagers, and fellow soldiers gathered to pay tribute, remembering Shaheed Jobanjeet Singh for his courage, service, and supreme sacrifice for the nation
