Leadership, research and discovery do not follow a single trajectory, neither do the women shaping the future of space science today. From steering one of India’s foremost astrophysical institutions, to advancing global equity in astronomy, to contributing directly to planetary discovery, these journeys reflect the many ways science is built, led and sustained.
We are honoured to welcome Prof. (Dr.) Annapurni Subramaniam, Director, Indian Institute of Astrophysics; Dr. Mamta Pommier, Chair of the International Astronomical Union’s Women in Astronomy Working Group; and Ms. Banita Dash, Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar Awardee (2022) and Asteroid Discoverer. They don’t just look at the stars—they help the world read what they are.
Together, they represent generations of scientific leadership—grounded in research, shaped by perseverance, and driven by curiosity. This session offers a rare opportunity to hear directly from leaders shaping space science today, and to engage with perspectives that illuminate both the challenges and possibilities of scientific careers.
