Delhi Skill & Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) witnessed a moment of immense pride as Prof. (Dr.) Ashok K. Nagawat, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, DSEU, was conferred the prestigious Honorary Colonel Rank by the NCC Directorate, Delhi, at the Investiture & Pipping Ceremony held on 1 September 2026 at DSEU Headquarters, Sector-9, Dwarka, New Delhi.
The honour was conferred in the presence of the Chief Guest, Maj. Gen. Ravinder Kumar, SM, VSM, ADG, NCC Directorate Delhi, along with Brigadier P.S. Chhonkar, SM, VSM, Group Commander, Group-B NCC, Colonel Karan Mehta, Commanding Officer, 2 Delhi Bn, NCC, distinguished dignitaries, NCC representatives, faculty members, staff and students.
In his address, Prof. (Dr.) Ashok K. Nagawat reflected on his own journey with the NCC Naval Wing from 1972 to 1975, recalling his experiences as a cadet and participation in Independence Day and Republic Day parades. He highlighted how the values learnt through NCC extend far beyond the period of cadetship and gradually become an integral part of an individual’s character and way of life.
Emphasising the responsibility of today's youth towards society and the nation, the Vice-Chancellor encouraged students to develop entrepreneurship, leadership, discipline and disaster-management skills, while transforming knowledge into meaningful action.
NEED → SKILL → SERVE → INNOVATE
The message of the ceremony was further reinforced by Maj. Gen. Ravinder Kumar, SM, VSM, who emphasised the fundamental principle:
“SERVICE BEFORE SELF”
He underlined that true leadership is not defined merely by a position or rank, but by the willingness to accept responsibility, serve selflessly and place a larger purpose above personal interests. His message resonated strongly with the University's vision of preparing responsible professionals and citizens who can contribute meaningfully to society.
The ceremonial proceedings, including the NCC song and group photograph, brought together the NCC cadets, University leadership, faculty and staff in a collective celebration of this significant occasion.
The programme concluded with a plantation initiative led by Maj. Gen. Ravinder Kumar, SM, VSM, Prof. (Dr.) Ashok K. Nagawat, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, DSEU, and Prof. (Dr.) Abha Jain Nagawat, First Lady of the University. The initiative symbolised growth, responsibility and a shared commitment towards a sustainable future.
