🚨 Big News Alert 🚨

On May 19, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) 🏦 dropped a major bombshell! They announced that they are pulling ₹2000 banknotes from circulation! 😲 But don't worry, they'll still be legal tender.

In their mission for a 'Clean Note Policy' 🧹, the RBI has decided to say goodbye to our pink friends 🎀. But what should you do with them now? Well, the RBI has your back. They advise you to deposit those ₹2000 notes into your bank accounts 🏧 or exchange them for other denominations at any bank branch. 💱

And the best part? There's no rush! 🚫⏰ You can do this in your own sweet time, with the deadline for deposit or exchange set for September 30, 2023. Just remember, the limit for exchanges is ₹20,000 at a time, starting from May 23, 2023.

And guess what? Banks have been instructed to stop issuing these notes, effective immediately! ❌

Here's a quick history lesson 📚. These ₹2000 notes were introduced back in November 2016 after the scrapping of ₹500 and ₹1000 banknotes. However, with other denominations now available in plenty, they stopped printing the ₹2000 ones in 2018-19.

Surprisingly, about 89% of these notes were issued before March 2017 and are now nearing their life expectancy of 4-5 years. 🕰️

And here's the kicker: the value of these notes in circulation has plummeted from ₹6.73 lakh crore at its peak (March 2018) to just ₹3.62 lakh crore in March 2023! 😱

So, get ready to say goodbye to those ₹2000 notes and say hello to a cleaner, more efficient currency system. 🔄💰
