AIIMS which was about to start online Health consultations on April 1st, 2023 was reportedly hacked for a ransom of Rs. 200 Crore.
As per reports, the objective behind most attacks was to inject a malicious payload into the network of the healthcare company and trigger ransomware attacks. A total of 1527 unique payloads were found being used for trojan and ransomware.
A total of 41,181 unique IP addresses were found, traced back to Vietnam, Pakistan, and China.
According to data by CyberPeace Foundation & Autobot Infosec, 1.9 Million Cyber Attacks have Hit the Indian Healthcare sector since 2022 till date.
It is evident from the above facts, that these ever-increasing waves of cyber attacks from overseas are a national security concern.
In a country of more than 1.4 million people, our tiny army of 300+ cyber security professionals is struggling to safeguard the country against Cyber attacks.
This clearly indicates the urgency to build a strong and competent army, in order to protect our people against cyber crimes.
As there is very little access to high-quality Cyber Education in the country, we have taken this as an opportunity to serve our country by creating a skilled and well-aware set of students who can take the national cyber security intent to higher levels.

New findings of Migita, the Cloud incident response company show Hundreds of databases on Amazon RDS (Relational Database Service) are exposing Personal Identifiable Information (PII). This includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, marital status, car rental information, and even company logins.

Amazon RDS is a web service that makes it possible to set up relational databases in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud. It offers support for different database engines such as MariaDB, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server. The root cause of the leaks stems from a feature called public RDS snapshots, which allows for creating a backup of the entire database environment running in the cloud and can be accessed by all AWS accounts.

The Israeli company, which carried out the research from September 21, 2022, to October 20, 2022, found 810 snapshots that were publicly shared for varying duration, starting from a few hours to weeks, making them open to abuse by malicious actors. Based on the nature of the information exposed, adversaries could either steal the data for financial gain or leverage it to get a better grasp of a company's IT environment, acting as a stepping stone for covert intelligence-gathering efforts.
It's highly recommended that RDS snapshots are encrypted and not publicly accessible in order to prevent potential leaks or misuse of sensitive data or any other kind of security threat.
