Tibetan Community Centre, South Delhi We are around 400-500 young Tibetans residing in and around South Delhi. This consists of both employed and students.
On most of the occasions/festivals/after work, we Tibetans find ourselves looking for a place to meet and gather. Hitherto, we have always ended up standing in front of tea stalls in narrow lanes of Ramesh Market. Groups of our people at one place, talking on various topics over tea is sometime seen by locals as anti-social. This could become a reason of disharmony between two communities in futur
e as has been communicated by concerned locale elders’ couple of times. This does cause discomfort and inconvenience to women of both communities as well. Therefore, we are trying to set up “ZOMSA” (Tibetan Community Centre), which will be a rendezvous for all Tibetans in and around South Delhi. ZOMSA will have various amenities like;
• Access to book collection on spirituality, fiction, non-fiction and biographies
• Free Internet and occasional film screenings
• Occasional programmes like; talks, community meetings, interactive sessions, musicals etc
• Tea/coffee and healthy snacks bar
ZOMSA will help keep the community together and will come handy to gather help for members when in need. It will be a point where our people can come together at various occasions to remind ourselves of common goals, exchange ideas and get to know other members of the community. ZOMSA PROJECT
