Read aloud and silently
As you go through the various books in this series, you’ll notice
one other thing: You’ll notice that I’ve written the books in a style
that is closer to the spoken style than to a high-sounding written
style.
Of course, one reason for this is plain enough: I want you
to clearly understand what I say — quickly and without much
effort. But you see, there’s one other reason: I want you to keep
reading this sort of English for some time — English written in a
style that approximates to the spoken style. Why? Because that’ll
help you pick up the ‘feel’ of the real English speech — to a great
extent. And that’ll help you to get out of the written English track
and to get into the spoken English track.

SCIENCE AND RELIGION

The popular belief that science and religion are poles apart, is absolutely a wrong notion; rather they are complementary and both serve the objective of improving the quality of life. The general recourse of science is progressive inquiry and a march towards perfection through reason and rationalism; while religion is based on the intuition, faith and realizations of the enlightened and is more inclined towards spiritualism. The overwhelmed ancient man was awe-struck by the powerful forces of nature and thus began worshipping the nature thus he produced the holy scriptures which were written by those kind of people who had a perfect balance between the outer and the inner self. However; subsequent monopoly of the priestly class over the scriptural knowledge and addition of “divinity factor” to the scriptures made them a holy thing; which is not to be touched, not to be read by the common, but is to be worshipped as a daily ritual. Logical thinking was flouted and liberal and truthful ideas were suppressed. In such darkness probably science emerged as a savior of the mankind and science then aimed exactly at the same objective, that religion wanted to achieve: “Liberation of human soul.” Although the annuls of human history depict that liberal thinkers have always suffered.
