The Department Of Psychiatry ,Dindigul Medical College has Special Ward Exclusively for Homeless Person With Mental Iilness (HPWMS) As Per Honable CM’s Announcement in Tamilnadu Assembly .Twenty four Homeless Mentally ill Patients were rescued and admitted in our special ward .Our first & foremost priority is providing nutritious food and maintaining self care & and hygiene. Along with psychiatric treatment ,general health and medical problems are taken cared of . Rehabilitation of HPWMI is planned after they improve .They are reunited with family members
Generally. If family member are not traced ,they are sent to Psychiatric Rehabilitation Home.
