Inauguration of Nutri-Explore 2026–2027 & Breastfeeding Week Celebration

The Nutri-Explore 2026–2027 Inauguration and Breastfeeding Week Celebration was organised by the Department of Home Science – Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics on 6 August 2026 at Room 20, with 29 participants. The programme began with an opening prayer and song by the students. Mrs. Georgina Paul, Head of the Department, welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest, Ms. Jeeva A, Dietitian, Nizwa Hospital, Oman, an alumna of the department (2013–2016). Dr. S. Florence Vijila, Principal, greeted the students and shared her reminiscences about the chief guest. Ms. Jeeva shared valuable insights on breastfeeding, its importance and benefits to mothers and babies, along with career guidance and her professional experiences as a dietitian. Students presented a dance and mime highlighting the importance of breastfeeding and displayed nutritious foods that promote lactation. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms. Pavithra S, Department Secretary, followed by the closing prayer. The programme enhanced students’ awareness of breastfeeding, career opportunities in Clinical Nutrition and the role of nutrition in promoting lactation.

The Math ᴫ Rate-2026 Association Inauguration and National Seminar was organised by the Department of Mathematics on 5 August 2026 at the Computer Python Lab, with 60 participants. The programme began with an opening prayer by Mrs. Sathyapriya, Assistant Professor, followed by a prayer song by the students. Dr. S. Florence Vijila, Principal, welcomed the gathering and the chief guest, Mrs. Helan Isaac, CEO – HR & Payroll Services, Isaac Advisory Services, New York, USA, who is also an alumna of the Department of Mathematics (2000–2003). Dr. Sheeba Juliet, Head of the Department, introduced the chief guest. Mrs. Helan Isaac delivered an inspiring seminar on “The Symphony of Data – How Commerce, Math and Tech Run the World.” The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms. Angelin, Department Secretary, and the closing prayer by Mrs. Abeena Shantini, Assistant Professor. The seminar helped students understand the importance of Mathematics and its integration with Commerce, Technology and data in various fields.

The Department of Commerce – Information Systems and Management, C.S.I. Ewart Women’s Christian College, in collaboration with the Department of English, SRM Valliammai Engineering College, organized a Skill Development Programme on 04 August 2026.

The sessions were handled by Dr. Sheeba Manodh, A.P.; Dr. R. Geetha, A.P. (Sr.G); Dr. M. Chithra, A.P. (Sr.G); Dr. P. Padmapriya, A.P. (O.G); Ms. Roshan Fathima, A.P. (O.G); Dr. G. Suganya, A.P. (O.G); Dr. V. Jayanthi, A.P. (Sr.G); Dr. M. Arthi, A.P. (Sr.G); and Mr. W.S. Andrew Veda, A.P. (O.G) from SRM Valliammai Engineering College.

The programme focused on developing students’ writing, listening, non-verbal communication, interaction and interpersonal skills through practical and activity-based sessions.

The interactive sessions enhanced students’ confidence, active participation, teamwork and ability to communicate effectively in academic and professional situations.
Overall, the programme was a meaningful initiative that strengthened students’ communication and soft skills, contributing to their personal, academic and professional development.

The Centre for Women’s Studies was inaugurated on 6th July 2026 at CSI Ewart Women’s Christian College, Melrosapuram. The programme began with a prayer, welcome address, and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Dr. Roja Suganthi Singh, Assistant Professor, John Fisher University, Rochester, USA, delivered the inaugural address on women’s empowerment, gender equality, and leadership. She encouraged students to become confident, socially responsible, and active contributors to society. The programme concluded with felicitations and a vote of thanks. The inauguration marked the beginning of initiatives to promote awareness and academic engagement in Women’s Studies.

The NSS Unit organized a Fire Safety Awareness cm Recruitment Drive on 24th June 2026 at 12.00 PM in the College Auditorium. The programme was conducted by the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services Directorate as part of its initiative to promote fire safety awareness and provide information on recruitment opportunities for college students.

The resource person, Mr. P. Karthikeyan, Fire Station Officer, Maraimalai Nagar Fire Station, delivered an informative session on the causes of fire accidents, preventive measures, emergency response procedures, and the importance of maintaining calm during fire emergencies. He emphasized the need for fire safety awareness in homes, educational institutions, and workplaces.

A live demonstration on the correct operation of fire extinguishers was conducted, enabling students to understand the different classes of fire and the appropriate methods to control them safely. The resource person also explained the eligibility criteria, selection process, physical fitness requirements, and career prospects in the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services Department, motivating students to consider serving the community through this noble profession.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 200 students, 25 faculty members, and 50 others, making a total of 275 participants. The session was highly interactive, with students actively engaging in discussions and clarifying their doubts regarding fire safety practices and recruitment procedures.
