The School of Law, SVKM’s NMIMS Chandigarh, successfully organised a Meta Skills Session for Semester IX Law Students on **“Industry Connect: Alternate Careers in Law”**, featuring **Ms. Molly A. Lakhanpal, Lawyer & Advisor, High Court of Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh**, as the distinguished resource person.

The session offered students valuable insights into the evolving legal profession and the diverse career pathways available beyond conventional legal practice. Drawing from her rich professional journey across litigation, public interest law, constitutional matters, intellectual property, corporate practice, international law and diplomacy, Ms. Lakhanpal encouraged students to explore opportunities aligned with their individual interests, strengths and aspirations.

The interaction also highlighted the importance of practical exposure, internships, specialised legal knowledge, research, moot court experience and interdisciplinary learning in building successful legal careers.

Students gained a broader perspective on how a law degree can serve as a versatile toolkit, opening avenues in diplomacy, policy, arbitration, intellectual property, corporate practice, international organisations and public interest law.

The session was organised under the **visionary leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Jyotsna Singh, Campus Director, NMIMS Chandigarh**, and under the **guidance of Dr. Nandan Sharma, Associate Dean, School of Law, NMIMS Chandigarh**, and coordinated by **Dr. Bhoomika Ahuja, Course Coordinator – Meta Skills**.

The engaging interaction inspired students to look beyond conventional career trajectories, develop relevant professional competencies and consciously build the skills and experiences required to navigate an increasingly diverse legal landscape.

Future Ready: Career and Technical Forum

The Matrix Club, STME, NMIMS, organised an insightful “Future Ready: Career and Technical Forum” for 2nd and 3rd Year B.Tech. students of Computer Engineering (CE) and Computer Engineering with Data Science (CSEDS).

The session featured Mr. Aryamann Ailawadi, Associate Cybersecurity Engineer, Netsmartz, who shared practical insights into cybersecurity career pathways, industry expectations, certifications, hands-on projects, technical skills and placement preparation.

Students explored domains such as Red Team, Blue Team and SOC, along with practical learning opportunities through cybersecurity labs, CTFs, bug bounty programmes and industry-relevant platforms. The session also highlighted the importance of strong fundamentals, continuous learning, responsible use of AI and building a strong professional profile.

The engaging interaction provided students with an actionable roadmap to develop the technical and professional skills needed to build successful careers in cybersecurity.

Celebrating the 80th Independence Day at NMIMS Chandigarh 🇮🇳

NMIMS Chandigarh celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with pride, patriotism and a renewed commitment to integrity, responsibility and nation-building.

The celebrations began with the unfurling of the Tricolour by Prof. (Dr.) Jyotsna Singh, Campus Director, and Chief Guest Squadron Leader Gaurav Malik (Retd.), in the presence of the senior leadership and faculty of NMIMS Chandigarh, followed by the National Anthem.

The occasion featured vibrant student cultural performances, celebrating India’s rich heritage, diversity and spirit of unity.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Jyotsna Singh highlighted that nation-building is a continuous journey driven by hard work, honesty, wisdom and responsibility. Squadron Leader Gaurav Malik (Retd.) encouraged students to uphold integrity and ethical values, and to always do the right thing—even when no one is watching.

As we celebrate 80 years of Independence, let us continue to contribute towards a stronger, inclusive and progressive India.

From Migration to Nation-Building: Understanding the Indian Diaspora

On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day of India, the School of Law, NMIMS Chandigarh, is hosting an expert lecture on “Immigration of the Indian Diaspora: Social, Economic & Legal Impact on the State.”

The session will explore the evolving journey of the Indian diaspora and its wider social, economic and legal implications, offering valuable perspectives on migration, governance, public policy and the relationship between India and its global community.

The lecture will be delivered by Shri T.K. Manoj Kumar, IAS (Retd.), Former Joint Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs; Former Protector General of Emigrants; and Former Chairman, Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA).
