These are two types-
a) Indefinite - A and An
b) Definite- The

Use of A :-
If a word's first letter is consonant then article 'A' is used
Ex:- a cow, a book ,a pen etc.
#) "O" is pronounced like "wa" then Article "A" is used.
Ex- A one hundred rupees note etc.
#) If U" is pronounced like 'U'
then article "A" is used
Ex- A university, A union, A European ect

Use of An:-
If a word's first letter is vowel then article 'An' is used.
Ex- An Apple,An Elephant,an Orange An Umbrella etc.
#) When a word's first letter is consonant and sounds like vowel then article 'An' is used.
Ex- an hour, An honest
