Last week, we had an amazing panel discussion on "How AI is Revolutionizing Coding Skills & Employability," moderated by Eddie Malecki, Co-Founder of Assessfy AI USA. 🌟 Great insights were shared by my fellow panelists: Dr. Christelle Scharff, Dr. Cole Smith, Leyou Belayneh, Dr. Chetan Jaiswal, Dr. Gabor Melli, and Jack Hassall.

Having taught AI for a decade at Aegis School of Data Science, I've witnessed its evolution from a conceptual idea, akin to the movie "Her," to a reality with advancements like OpenAI's GPT-4o. This progression, a true "Her moment," highlights that AI is not merely artificial but a manifestation of human knowledge and ingenuity. As AI capabilities continue to mimic human cognition and understanding, its potential to revolutionize education and beyond becomes increasingly evident.

During our discussion, I have made following points:
🤖 Efficiency in Evaluating Assignments: Evaluating coding assignments, especially in large classes, is challenging. AI-powered tools like Assessfy can efficiently handle these evaluations, reducing subjectivity and providing timely feedback.

🚀 Faculty Workload: Evaluating assignments consumes a significant portion of faculty time, detracting from teaching and curriculum development. AI tools alleviate this burden by automating routine assessments, allowing educators to focus more on student engagement and innovative teaching approaches.

📚 Impact of Auto Grading with Assessfy: Using Assessfy has significantly reduced my workload enabling me to dedicate more time to curriculum enhancement and personalized student feedback.

🎓Personalized Feedback: Using AI tools like Assessfy, educators can provide detailed, personalized feedback on assignments, helping students identify and improve on their weaknesses.

📊 Tools like Assessfy can put AI in the hands of educators to help measure and improve learning outcomes at course level and program level. AI can turn the dream of outcome-based education into reality without further burdening faculty members.

🧑‍🏫 Balancing AI and Human Expertise: While AI excels in automating routine assessments, complex projects still benefit from human oversight.

🤝 Future Prospects: AI represents an aggregation of human intelligence, capable of enhancing educational outcomes and preparing students for the future workforce.

🔮 Reflecting on these advancements, it's clear that AI, driven by complex mathematical computations, holds the potential to unlock new frontiers in education. From enhancing coding skills to improving employability through personalized learning experiences, AI is reshaping the educational landscape in profound ways.
