DPS Bokaro collaborates with Crestforth International School of Nigeria on global issue

Bokaro: Taking education beyond the confines of classrooms and connecting students with global perspectives, international experiences and contemporary global challenges, Delhi Public School (DPS), Bokaro, has undertaken another landmark initiative. Under the prestigious Recognition of International Dimensions in Schools (RIDS) programme of the British Council, DPS Bokaro has collaborated with a renowned Crestforth International School of Nigeria on the global issue of environmental conservation and sustainable transportation. As part of the initiative, students enthusiastically participated in a range of activities, including an awareness rally, an awareness survey, poster-making, questionnaires and the preparation of logbooks.

The most significant aspect of this initiative was an engaging video interaction with students of the Nigerian school. Connected across continents through digital screens, students and teachers of Nigeria discussed their respective geographical and social contexts and exchanged ideas on practical measures and innovative approaches to promote sustainable and eco-friendly transportation in their countries. In the next phase of the partnership, the activities and projects undertaken by the Nigerian school will also be shared with DPS Bokaro.

Meanwhile, dozens of DPS Bokaro students participated in an awareness rally titled ‘Green Wheels’, carrying posters, banners, placards and hand-written slogans. During the rally, the students spread awareness among the public about environmental friendly modes of transportation and the importance of adopting sustainable practices.

As part of the RIDS campaign, another awareness initiative focusing on plastic pollution was also conducted in the Primary Wing of DPS Bokaro. Students actively participated in various activities, including poster-making and creative artwork, to highlight the harmful impact of plastic pollution and promote environmental responsibility.

The Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar described the RIDS initiative as a significant step towards building a greener, cleaner and healthier future across the globe. He stated that protecting the environment is a collective responsibility and that ensuring sustainable transportation is essential in this regard.

Bringing the curtains down on a week-long celebration of linguistic diversity, Delhi Public School, Bokaro concluded its six-day Literary Fest 2026 on a spiritual and intellectual note with the Inter-House Sanskrit Literary Competition on Saturday.

The grand finale resonated with divine vibrations as participants opened the proceedings with a melodious recitation of the 15th Chapter of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita. The event then transitioned into an intellectually stimulating six-round Sanskrit Quiz Competition, testing the participants on grammar, Vedic chants, Vachan, Dhatu, Hindi contextual translations, audio-visual prompts and the profound contributions of Sanskrit to ancient scientific and astronomical knowledge.

Jamuna House and Chenab House jointly clinched the first position, while Ganga House secured the third position. During the valedictory ceremony, the Sanskrit Department, led by Vice-Principal Shalini Sharma, felicitated the Principal with a shawl and a copy of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita.

The Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar congratulated the students and teachers on the successful conclusion of the six-day Literary Festival. He highlighted its profound impact in nurturing not merely literary excellence but also well-rounded individuals of character and confidence. “Such competitions provide students with diverse platforms to explore and discover their potential. They cultivate discipline, empathy, concentration and strong moral values,” he said. Referring to Sanskrit, he stated that this language can offer a deep understanding of life because it is not merely a means of communication, it carries a vast and timeless tradition of philosophy, ethics, spirituality, science, literature and self-reflection.

Few developments in modern economics have sparked as much debate and intrigue as the rise of cryptocurrency. Keeping this perspective in mind, DPS Bokaro organised an Inter-House Hindi Debate Competition as part of its ongoing Literary Fest 2026–27 on the topic, “क्रिप्टोकरेंसी का बढ़ता चलन : भविष्य की मुद्रा या धोखा?”

Speaking in favour of the motion, participants hailed cryptocurrency as a monumental breakthrough in financial technology and a potential foundation of the modern global economy. The opposing bench mounted a fierce critique of crypto assets, labelling them the 21st century’s biggest “digital illusion” and comparing speculative trading to virtual gambling.

Based on their performances as strong debaters, Shipra Hembram of Chenab House clinched the first prize. Anushka Arya of Jamuna House secured the second position, while Shambhavi Jha of Ganga House bagged the third. Rani Prem Lata Jha chaired the competition, while Nimisha Sinha and Vinay Kumar were the judges.

The Principal, Dr. A. S. Gangwar, emphasised the contemporary relevance of the topic and stressed that the ultimate impact of any technology depends entirely on how responsibly and conscientiously it is utilised. Focusing on the personality development of students, he asserted, “To become a truly persuasive speaker, one must first be an attentive and patient listener.”

The powerful stage of Delhi Public School, Bokaro, echoed with the thunderous voices of young debaters formally debating on the topic, ‘Should Skill-based Learning Replace Traditional Academics?’ The fourth day of the school’s six-day Literary Fest witnessed the power of communication skills combined with logical thinking.

Speaking in favour of the motion, students highlighted that skill-based education is essential for the 21st century and vital for future job opportunities. They pointed out that traditional education often relies too heavily on rote learning. On the other hand, the opposing speakers argued that traditional academics form the foundation of all knowledge and scientific advancement. Both sides supported their arguments with real-life examples. The Creative Writing competition was also held for students from all six houses.

Anushka Sharma bagged the first position, followed by Kumari Khushi, both from Jhelum House, while Ruchi Thakur of Chenab House secured the third position.

The Principal, Dr. A. S. Gangwar, appreciated the young speakers’ oratory skills and insightful views. “Engaging in debates instil mental clarity, rigorous logic and empathy for divergent perspectives,” he stated. He stressed that strong moral values, character and practical skills are equally essential, besides good academic performance, to succeed in life.

DPS Bokaro hosted an exciting Inter-House English Spelling Competition on Wednesday as part of the Literary Fest 2026–27.

Students from all six houses competed in the Inter House Spelling Competition on Wednesday through seven engaging rounds featuring literary characters, famous personalities, foreign words, scientific terms and renowned writers. Interactive audience rounds added to the excitement.Jamuna House clinched the first position , followed by Sutlej House and Raavi House on the second and third positions respectively.

The Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar appreciated the participants and shared that such competitions strengthen vocabulary, concentration, listening skills and confidence while making learning enjoyable. “Competitions like these open doors to become more knowledgeable and build self-confidence by overcoming fear and self-doubt”, he added.

‘Der Deutsche Karneval’- DPS Bokaro celebrates Indo-German cultural bonds on day two of the Literary Fest 2026

The second day of the Annual Literary Fest was a vibrant celebration of cross-cultural values and absolute confidence, with the German Literary Competition, ‘Der Deutsche Karneval’, held at the school’s Kalidas Kala Bhawan. The venue came alive with the Indian tricolour alongside the black, red and gold of the German flag, symbolising the strong cultural bond between the two nations.
The event began with the presentation of beautifully crafted handmade mementos to the Principal, expressing love and respect. This was followed by a captivating Indo-German fusion of orchestral music, traditional dance and a fashion show, celebrating the cultural heritage of both the countries.

The competition featured an engaging quiz among students representing the six Houses. Jamuna House secured the first position, while Chenab, Raavi and Jhelum jointly secured the second position. Ganga and Sutlej Houses stood fifth and sixth respectively.

The Principal Dr. A. S. Gangwar congratulated all the participants for their enthusiastic and confident performances. He described the event as a celebration of language, creativity and confidence rather than merely a competition, highlighting Germany’s rich legacy in science, technology and arts as a valuable source of learning for young minds. DPS Bokaro Commences the Five-Day Literary Fest with the French Literary Competition

In keeping with the need for cross-cultural communication in today’s globalised and interconnected world, Delhi Public School, Bokaro, organised the French Literary Competition to enhance students’ linguistic proficiency and cultural understanding. The competition commenced with introductory speeches and poetic recitations in French by the participants. The event was structured into several interactive and knowledge-based rounds, including Quiz Round, Guess the Country, Random Number Round, Neighbouring Countries Round, Rapid-Fire Round and Fun Translation Round where iconic dialogues were spoken in French and participants had to translate and respond. This round left the audience overjoyed and drew thunderous applause.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal, Dr. A. S. Gangwar, highlighted the importance of learning foreign languages in the 21st century. He motivated students and said, “Such competitions help in gaining knowledge, confidence and a global perspective. This is a prized opportunity for all those students who gain exposure to international languages, culture and technology, equipping them to adopt the best global practices. Students can avail such platforms to facilitate their admission, transition and eventual settlement into universities abroad.”

Based on the overall performances, the first position was secured by Raavi House, while the second and third positions were bagged by Sutlej and Chenab Houses respectively.
