কখনো কখনো আমরা কিছু শব্দের শেষে এই সমস্ত suffix গুলো দেখি.... আসুন দেখে নেয়া যাক এগুলোর অর্থ কি?

1. Phile / Philo → Love
Example: Bibliophile = book lover

2.Miso → Hate
Example: Misogynist = hater of women

3.Logy → Study
Example: Zoology = study of animals

4. Mania → Obsession
Example: Bibliomania = obsession with books

5.Graphy
Writing / Recording / Description
Example Geography

6. Nomy
System / Law / Management
Example-Economy

যদি কোনো শব্দের শেষে-ist থাকে তাহলে সেটা কোনো ব্যাক্তি কে বোঝায় আর যদি -ics যুক্ত থাকে তাহলে বুঝতে হবে সেটা study কে বোঝায় বা কোনো subject কে বোঝায়

1.কোনো নাটকের শুরুতে যে speech দেয়া হয় তাকে বলে- Prologue

2.কোনো নাটকের শেষের ছোটো speech কে বলা হয়-Epilogue ( Epitaph এর সাথে গুলিয়ে দিবেন না যেনো, কেউ মারা গেলে তার কবরের উপর যে শেষ কথাটা লেখা হয় তাকে বলা হয় Epitaph)

3.এক অভিনেতার. একটা লম্বা বক্তব্য ( usually in a drama or a movie) কে বলা হয় -Monologue

4. দুজনের কথোপকথন কে বলা হয় -Dialogue ( modern English এ যদিও এটাকেই conversation হিসাবে ধরা হয় কিন্তু নিয়ম অনুযায়ী for more than two persons we should use the term 'conversation ')

1.কোনো কোনো বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে শেষের দিকে লেখা থাকে N.B ... এটার full form হল Nota Bini (এটি লাতিন শব্দ যার অর্থ হচ্ছে বিশেষ বিজ্ঞপ্তি)
2. আমরা উদাহরণ লিখতে গিয়ে লিখি e.g .... এটার full form হল exempli gratia (এটিও একটি লাতিন শব্দ)

ভোট এর synonym হলো polling,

কিন্তু plebiscite বা referendum মানে হলো 'কোনো গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয়ে সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়ার জন্য সর্বসাধারণের ভোট গ্রহণ ' (এটি প্রাচীন রোম এ প্রচলিত ছিল) ।

আর suffrage মানে হলো right to vote অর্থাৎ ভোটের অধিকার। যেমন আমাদের দেশে আমরা suffrage পেয়েছিলাম স্বাধীনতার পরে যেটা ছিল "Universal Adult Suffrage " .
