Reflection of Light in the Given Image
In this picture, the Sun is the source of light. The water surface acts like a plane mirror.
The rays of light coming from the Sun fall on the smooth surface of water.
According to the Laws of Reflection,
1. The angle of incidence = The angle of reflection.
2. The incident ray, the reflected ray, and the normal all lie in the same plane.
Because of this, the image of the Sun is seen in water exactly below the actual Sun. The trees on both sides are also seen inverted in water due to reflection.
1. When the water is calm, the reflection is regular reflection, and a clear image is formed.
2. If the water surface has ripples, the reflection becomes diffused reflection, and the image looks blurred.
Thus, this photo is a real-life example of reflection of light from a plane surface.
