💥 “What if I told you low BP… is sometimes the right plan?”
Sounds risky, right? Yet in the world of trauma and critical care, permissive hypotension is a life-saving strategy — and understanding it can mean the difference between patient recovery and disaster.
Here's the truth:
In certain trauma or bleeding cases, we intentionally allow lower blood pressure to minimize bleeding, prevent clot disruption, and buy crucial time — without compromising organ function.
⚠️ But the balance is thin — too low, and you risk ischemia.
⚠️ Too high, and clots break, leading to more bleeding.
That’s where precision matters. And that’s where we, as Anaesthesiologists, step up.
Here’s what you’ll learn in my full breakdown:
🩸 When to use permissive hypotension
🫀 Target BP ranges you should aim for
📈 How to balance fluids, vasopressors & clinical judgement
🩻 Real OT scenarios + decision-making steps
🎥 This is a must-know topic if you're preparing for your Anaesthesia MD/DNB/DA exams — or building clinical confidence for real-life trauma OT cases.

💡 “Exams don’t just test knowledge – they test your patience, clarity, and confidence. And for Anaesthesia students, the pressure is 🔥 intense.”
I’ve seen brilliant postgraduates struggle – not because they didn’t study hard enough, but because they lacked the right guidance, structure, and clarity. That’s exactly why I created The Bangalore Anaesthesia Review Course (BARC) – an LMS designed to bridge the gap between theory, clinical practice, and exam success.
Here’s what makes BARC different:
✨ Master Classes – Deep dives into complex topics with practical insights.
✨ Dr. Azam’s Notes – My simplified approach to make tough concepts stick.

The phrenic nerve innervates the diaphragm, essential for breathing. In ultrasound-guided blocks, especially interscalene and supraclavicular blocks, inadvertent phrenic nerve involvement may cause diaphragmatic paralysis, leading to respiratory distress. Risk increases in patients with compromised lung function. Techniques like low-volume injections and selective nerve targeting minimize this complication, ensuring safer regional anesthesia.

Management Techniques for Airway Decontamination in Massive Emesis
A Manikin Study
Emesis during airway management is a common event. When it occurs, massive emesis is a major problem as resultant aspiration is associated with both morbidity and mortality.1
In the operating room, approximately 0.01% – 0.11% will suffer some complication due to aspiration.2 In the emergency department (ED), aspiration rates associated with rapid sequence intubation have been reported from 0% – 22%.
