We loved being the first to return to Sharavathy in so many years.
From trekking and staying in tents, we learned to deal with leeches, frogs, and so much more.
Seeing and learning about the endemic species in this biodiversity hotspot opened our eyes to a whole new world.
The experience was fulfilling in so many ways, from our adventurous trek to Kanuru Fort to the jeep rides and playtime.
We lived every bit of it.
Knowing this was the last school field trip made it even more special and poignant.

Our exploration began with a simple curiosity from one of the classes—How do we write a letter? Where does it go? The postman brings it to our house, but where does he get it from?
Although the children had heard stories from their parents about letters, very few had ever written one themselves. Their excitement grew as they prepared to write invitations to their grandparents, eager to send their very first letters.
At the Post Office, the children had the wonderful opportunity to meet the post office manager, who patiently explained the fascinating journey of a letter. They were surprised to learn that letters travel not only by bike or scooty, but sometimes by train, ship, and even aeroplane!
The children explored different types of stamps and met the postman and postwoman in person. With great joy, they sang “Postman aaya, postman aaya, kitni chithi laya…” and expressed their gratitude for the important work postal workers do every day.
