Samskaras and Sthira & Sakshi Bhava – By Guruji Krishnananda

Question : How can we pass on good samskaras to our children in this polluted atmosphere?

Answer : How do you pass on anything to anybody else? How do we tell a person this is a delicious sweet, unless we taste it? We have to have good samskaras to pass them on. We pass on the samskaras by living, actually living the samskaras by ourselves. And when we live these samskaras, the atmosphere even if it is polluted, becomes pure. It is we who create the atmosphere.

Question : What is Sthira and Sakshi Bhava?

Answer : Sthira means established, anchored. Sakshi is witness. When our Awareness is anchored in God, then we start looking at our whole Life objectively like a witness. That state is called Sthira and Sakshi Bhava. It is very difficult, but it is always possible. My Guru did this effortlessly. He did this all the time. We have to anchor our Awareness in God. We have to just think of Him, we just have to feel His presence. In the beginning we have to make efforts. Afterwards we do not have to make any effort. What effort do we make to breathe? Breathing is automatic. Breathing is living. When we make God a presence within the system, when we anchor our Awareness in God like this, then everything that we do in Life is only objective. We will be like witnesses. We may come across difficulties, sufferings, but we will not suffer.

Is Revolution possible only by channelling Light?

We have to meditate, transform and become a container of knowledge and energies. We have to understand and experience what Love is. Without this Love we cannot do anything. Not only do we have to experience this Love, we have to manifest It in every way, in every detail of our Life, in every emotion, in every thought. Without Love, we are nothing. Our work is to first become Light, then to spread Light. Unless we have Light, we cannot emit Light, we cannot spread Light. Once we become Light, we do not have to do anything. The Light goes out of us, spreads out of us automatically. A candle just burns, it does not do anything else. It is as simple as that, but to reach this stage of becoming Light is not easy. That is our Sadhana. That is our work. The first priority.

Our work is to become Light; to grow and complete our Sadhana. The whole world then becomes Light, but that is the second part. During this process of becoming Light, spreading Light all around, we also have to live this Life. Do not neglect this Life. Glorify it. Celebrate it. That is what the Rishis said all the time. I do not know when this idea of austerity and the running to the Himalayas came. We should not run anywhere. We have be where we are and we have to live this Life like a plant or tree in a forest. It does not move but it blooms, the tree bears fruits, the flowers spread their fragrance. This Life is never to be neglected. This is very important. Neglecting this Life is unspiritual. That is why we say do not neglect anything. Do not ignore this body. This body is a gift to us. It is a temple that we are living in. It is a palace that we are living in. Fasting too much or punishing ourselves are distortions. Amara asked us to glorify this body. This relates to Shambala Principle number three. The special instruction related to it says, “Take care of the body. Keep it beautiful”. During the process of becoming Light and spreading Light we have to live here not neglecting this Life. We must celebrate and glorify it.

We request everybody to join us on World Channels Day and channel Light from your own places and make this day a great success. A small step by you may initiate a bigger process of Love and Peace in the world. May this World Channels Day help contain the spread of the pandemic and heal our Mother Earth.
