Literacy is the ultimate goal of our education system and our organization. A very well-renowned linguist Michael Halliday has famously said “When children learn language, they are not simply engaging in one kind of learning among many; rather they are learning the foundation of learning itself.” (halliday, (1993))
It has been claimed by various reports that many children in India are not learnin

g to read and write well (ASER’s report revealed that children are “low” and “stuck”. There are only about 48% children in level II or higher who can read. Close to 20% children can only read letters or not even that. 14% can read words but not sentences. 19% can read sentences but not longer texts.) Keeping this problem as the focus of our research, efforts are being made to reform language and literacy instruction through empirical and theoretical understandings. The English Ever After programme aims at four areas which are very crucial for a child’s holistic and cognitive development and these are: Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing. Fluency is very crucial to bridge the gap between word recognition and comprehension. Our software called the “Flow of English” is based on a premise that supports guided learning through extensive instructional practices. It effectively scaffolds children by helping them acquire cognitive strategies, necessary to become independent readers. It comprises of intelligent (and limited!) controlled texts which supports fluency acquisition in children. Through regular practice the children will be able to overcome their challenges and will become independent readers.
