As an initiative under Industry- Interaction Cell (IIC) & Department of Civil Engineering BMSITM, a Panel Discussion on “Curriculum Development for Industrial Requirements” was organized on June 15, 2024!

We had an engaging session that emphasized the need for integrating practical experience in precast and composite technologies into our curriculum. Addressing the skilled labor shortage is essential, as is shifting from exam-oriented learning to project-based applications. Developing leadership skills and fostering collaboration with industry partners were highlighted as crucial for student growth.

It’s also important to encourage our top students to consider core companies, while familiarizing them with advanced techniques like modular construction and digital tools. We discussed the significance of quantity control and asset management, as well as the valuable role industry experts can play in guiding projects and evaluations.

On May 3, 2024, the Department of Civil Engineering held an enriching alumni talk for our IV semester students, featuring: Kavya Shivakumar & Aditya Sharma

Kavya Shivakumar provided valuable insights on preparing for GATE and government exams, emphasizing self-study techniques, recommended books, and mock tests. She also discussed coaching options, including costs and time commitments.
Aditya Sharma shared essential career skill-sets for aspiring Quality assurance and Quality Control engineers, focusing on what it takes to excel in the construction industry.
