Week 1 – Elaborative Summary
Week 1 marked the beginning of the Read · Reflect · Rise programme with Book Talk Week.
Students selected a book of their choice and presented a structured 2-minute talk, sharing the title, author, brief plot, what they enjoyed, and the message they learned.
Reading Circles were actively conducted, allowing students from different reading levels to participate confidently. Guided prompts helped hesitant readers express their thoughts, while fluent readers shared deeper reflections. Teachers and SSTs supported students with vocabulary, clarity, and presentation skills.
The week successfully boosted reading confidence, comprehension, and oral expression, setting a strong foundation for the upcoming weeks. Outstanding book talks were recognised and displayed on the Library Wall of Fame, motivating students to read and share more.
