Saraswati School is a school for underprivileged kids in Ballarpur, India. Currently, we have 91 students in Saraswati School, from Nursery to 4th Grade.
Founded with the motive of educating the less privileged, Saraswati School is run inside a temple in Ballarpur - a small town in India. The majority of the students cannot afford to pay their fees and there are few whose parents are plain ignorant towards their kids' education. We have all resources in place - teachers, students, necessary infrastructure. We are, however, struggling to raise funds
to run the school. As fees are not a major source of revenue, we need to raise funds from outside - largely to pay ongoing operational costs such as salaries to the teachers and rent to the temple authorities. Our monthly expenditure of salary on staff (including a maid) is 20,000 INR (approx. 200 Pounds) and that of rent, electricity etc. is 5,100 INR (approx. 51 Pounds). Additionally, we have around 4 events/celebrations during an year including an Annual Function, Teachers Day, Republic Day and Independence Day. The total expenditure on these events is approximately 60,000 INR (600 Pounds). If we are able to secure any donations over and above these amounts, we would invest that in buying a laptop and getting an internet connection so that any volunteers outside the town can interact with kids. This would cost us something around 35,000 INR (350 pounds). Any help from your side or any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Your contribution of £5 (or more) will ensure that we can continue to reach further and continue to provide education to these wonderful children. A small help from your side can impact the lives of 91 children!
