Our beloved organization, Paschim Banga Bigyan Manch, completes 40 years. Upholding the central slogan “Spread the light of science to every home” ( বিজ্ঞানের আলো, প্রতি ঘরে জ্বালো) , a grand rally will be held today, 22 November 2025 at 1:30 PM, from Rajabazar Science College to Entally Market.

Through this rally, we begin a year-long series of events across Bengal aimed at spreading scientific temper and the light of rational thinking to every household.

We warmly invite scientists, researchers, science activists, and well-wishers of the people’s science movement from all sections of society to join this historic rally of our proud organization.

Today is World Rivers Day.
Every year, the fourth Sunday of September is observed as World Rivers Day. Today, too, is the fourth Sunday of September — 28th September, 2025.
The pioneer of World Rivers Day was Mark Angelo, an internationally recognized river conservationist from Canada. The observance began in 1980 in British Columbia, Canada, as BC Rivers Day. Through Mark Angelo’s efforts, it was adopted globally in 2005.
This day calls for all the rivers of the world to be kept pollution-free and conserved.

Save Rivers – Save Life.

Our hearts are heavy with sorrow...
Yesterday, we lost not only a dear friend and colleague but also a passionate fighter for science and the environment — Shri Jayaram Sharma. His dedication and companionship will remain with us forever. With love and respect, we bow in tribute as he sets out on his final journey...

Respected Jayram Sharma, a long-time dedicated science activist of Paschim Banga Vigyan Mancha, Asansol Science Centre, and a member of the District Advisory Committee, passed away this evening around 7:30 PM after suddenly suffering a massive heart attack. We have lost a long-time companion. It must be admitted that we have still not been able to fully reach out with the core appeal of Vigyan Mancha to the Hindi-speaking community. Jayram-da was a Hindi-speaking science activist and a retired teacher. At just 65 years of age, he left us for the eternal journey, leaving incomplete his mission of nurturing scientific temper among Hindi speakers.

A very polite and calm-natured person, he was also an excellent speaker. In the Asansol industrial region, a Hindi-speaking speaker of Vigyan Mancha was much needed, and Jayram-da had been striving to fill that gap. Even this very morning, he had tea at a tea stall with his constant companion, Dr. Kuber Sharma (another Hindi-speaking science activist and leader of our organization). No one could have imagined that he would leave us so suddenly at this age.

Jayram-da, you will remain in our hearts forever. We pay our heartfelt respects to you and express our deepest condolences and sympathy to your family... 🙏🙏❤️❤️🌹🌹
