At 6, freedom is running outside without being called back in. At 17, it is knowing you can chase any dream with confidence.

This Independence Day, we asked our students from Grade 1 to Grade 12 one simple question: “What does freedom mean to you?”

And what unfolded was something quietly profound. Because freedom means something different at every age. Watch our students prove exactly that, in the most honest, unexpected, and beautiful ways.

We are delighted to celebrate 7 CIS students who have been shortlisted for the prestigious John Locke Institute Global Essay Prize, an international competition that recognises exceptional critical thinking, independent reasoning and academic writing.

Their achievement reflects more than strong writing. It reflects their intellectual courage and a willingness to engage with some of the world’s most thought-provoking questions.
