Dr. Vikram Vinayak and Dr. Mousumi Malakar have won the Mohanlal Memorial Gold Medal and Raizada Memorial Gold Medal in the 47th Annual Conference of UP State Ophthalmological Society held at Aligarh.
Dr. Vikram Vinayak is the JR3 while Dr. Mousumi JR2 in the Institute of Ophthalmology, Aligarh Muslim University. Prof. R. R. Sukul, Secretary, Organizing Committee and Director, Institute of Ophthalmology have congratulated the students.

Prof. Geeta Rajput, Chairman, Department of Prosthodontics, Dr. Z. A. Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University along with Dr. Shraddha Rathi, Assistant Professor has carried out a maxillofacial rehabilitation of the lost parts of a patient for the first time in Aligarh district.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College administration at the Aligarh Muslim University has taken a tough stand against the touts of drug shops and pathological labs in the surrounding area of the Hospital.
Prof. M. Ashraf Malik, Principal, J.N. Medical College issued a notice to all drug shops and pathological labs in Zakaria Market and warned their touts and the taxi drivers standing near the JN Medical College Hospital gate, banning their entry in the Hospital premises.
Dr. Malik said that if such elements were found in the premises of the JN Medical College Hospital luring the poor patients, they will be handed over to the police through the Proctors Office of AMU.
After having gone through the report of the two-member enquiry committee headed by Prof. Iqtidarul Hasan Zaidi, Department of Tashrih-wa-Munafeul Aza, the Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. General (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah has observed that a prima facie case of negligence is made out and ‘show cause’ notice be issued to Dr. M. H. Beg, Department of Surgery at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College.
It may be recalled that the Vice Chancellor had instituted an inquiry into the death of a University employee, Mr. Syed Pervez Ali, due to alleged negligence of Prof. M. H. Beg and a junior doctor, Dr. Adil, JR (1) of his team. The Vice Chancellor has instructed the Proctor to take action against Dr. Adil according to the Students’ Discipline and Conduct Rules of the University.

The Department of Anaesthesiology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University organized a workshop on Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The main focus of the workshop was on the newer gadgets such as AUTOPULSE, Pocket CPR and
Automated External Defibrillator that provide aid in the management of cardiac arrest patients based on 2010 guidelines of The American Heart Association (AHA).
The medical college was declared open on October 2, 1962 (the 93rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi) with an intake of 1st Batch of 40 MBBS students and the same strength continued up to 1984. The intake was increased from 40 to 100 students in 1985 and this remained so up to 1995. The academic session of 1996-97 witnessed a further increase in the intake of MBBS students up to 150 as well as beginning of BDS course with intake of 40 students in the first batch by the permission of MCI and DCI respectively.
