CEPT–TU Delft Workshop Explores Landscape-Based Urbanism

CEPT University concluded the four-day international design charrette, Landscape Logic: Landscape-Based Urbanism in Practice, organized in collaboration with TU Delft as part of the third-semester Master of Architecture (Landscape Architecture) studios.

Led by Prof. Steffen Nijhuis (TU Delft) and Chandrani Chakrabarti (CEPT University), together with Aditya Rao (West 8) and Ayesha Hussain (Avesana), the workshop introduced students to landscape-based urbanism through lectures, fieldwork, analytical mapping, and collaborative design.

Working in six interdisciplinary groups, students examined Ahmedabad's ecological, cultural, and urban systems to develop strategic landscape frameworks and design proposals for a site along the city's western green belt near Vasna. The proposals explored opportunities to strengthen groundwater recharge, ecological continuity, public open spaces, and climate resilience through landscape-led planning.

The workshop established a strong foundation for continued academic collaboration between CEPT University and TU Delft while providing students with exposure to internationally recognized approaches to landscape-based urbanism.
