તું વ્રુક્ષનો છાંયો છે, નદીનું જળ છે
ઊઘડતા આકાશનો ઉજાસ છે;
તું મૈત્રી છે.
તું થાક્યાનો વિસામો છે, રઝળપાટનો આનંદ છે
તું પ્રવાસ છે સહવાસ છે:
તું મૈત્રી છે.
તું એકની એક વાત છે, દિવસને રાત છે
કાયમી સંગાથ છે:
તું મૈત્રી છે.
હું થાકું છું ત્યારે તારી પાસે આવું છું
હું છલકાઉં છું ત્યારે તને ગાઉં છું
હું તને ચાહું છું:
તું મૈત્રી છે.
તું બુધ્ધનું સ્મિત છે, તું મીરાંનું ગીત છે
તું પુરાતન તોયે નૂતન અને નીત છે
તું મૈત્રી છે.
તું વિરહમાં પત્ર છે, મિલનમાં છત્ર છે
તું અહીં અને સર્વત્ર છે:
તું મૈત્રી છે.
તું સ્થળમાં છે: પળમાં છે:
તું સકળમાં છે અને તું અકળ છે
તું મૈત્રી છે.
