College of Technology, Silver Oak University organized “Orientation program for GATE Club” for the students of Aeronautical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical & Mechanical engineering students on 06/02/2023. The event was organized to make the students aware regarding GATE Examination, and its direct and indirect benefits. Mr. Utsav Yagnik and Dr. Komal Desai were the speakers of the program. The session started with an introductory welcome to the resource persons who later on took over the stage to introduce the students to the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). It is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science and as such the resource persons shared bulk information on the nature of exam; exam pattern and the important dates.
The benefits that students can seek on a good GATE score were also highlighted such as M. Tech. degree from IITs / NITs and other top colleges across India, placement in national and international private or public companies such as IOCL, NTPC, BHEL, PGCIL, BARC etc.; research fellowships at ISRO, DRDO, BARC, CSIR, IITs etc. In the end some tips on preparation strategy, tackling the question paper and the statistics about past scores were shared by the resource persons which can be believed to have a significant importance.
The session was concluded with a motivational and enlightening speech by Dr. Pina Bhatt Ma’am, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Silver Oak University. The event was successfully coordinated by Mr. Dhruv Panchal (AE), Mr. Mohammad Imran (CH), Dr. Komal Desai (CH), Mr. Parth Danani (CL), Mr. Utsav Yagnik (EE) & Mr. Devendra Singh Thapa (ME).

“Sainik Seva Fund” – A small initiative started by the Neem Tree Club of the Department of Chemical Engineering a few years back, but now it has become an integral part of celebration. As a part of this initiative, a fund is collected every Independence and Republic Day at the University campus, when all the students and faculties gather for Flag hosting ceremonies. The sacrifices they made cannot be compared to anything, but small efforts and contributions can make a significant difference, and these small- but meaningful things gave us a sense of belonging and unity as a nation and family.

The three-day webinar started with the inaugural ceremony, followed by the first technical session on the techno-environmental performance of CO2 utilization using hydrocarbon dry reforming by Dr. Ganesh Kale (CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur). He discussed the highly efficient utilization of CO2 for the production of syngas.
Dr. Sudhanshu Sharma of IIT Gandhinagar led the next session, explaining a comparative study on various catalyst systems oriented toward DATR. He proved that Ni and CO in and on CeO2 catalysts are the most thermochemically stable and can be used successfully for the dry reforming reaction.
The first day concluded with an excellent session on process intensification techniques for carbon capture by Dr. V. N. Lad, Associate Professor, SVNIT. He illustrated how the use of ultrasound cavitation is the most crucial PI technique for waste remediation.
The second day of the webinar began with a highly interactive session on CO2 conversion and utilization for sustainable development including energy, catalysis, adsorption, and chemical processing by Dr. Swapnil Dharaskar. He has also shown the ways to convert CO2 to methanol using the electrochemical method.
Dr. Mahuya Bandyopadhyay talked about the synthesis and modification of porous materials for sustainable CO2 utilization. She discussed the synthesis, characterization, and applications of various mesoporous and microporous materials.
Dr. Ritesh Palkar and Mr. Anand Prakash delivered on CO2 Capture, Utilization, and Sequestration: Supply Chain Network Optimization at the National, Regional, and State Levels kicked off the final day. Speakers also demonstrated the procedures for achieving net zero CO2 emissions.
The final session of the webinar was led by Dr. Ajit K. Pawani (IITRAM), who discussed CO2 sequestration technologies using absorbents/adsorbents for internal combustion engines. The webinar concluded with a closing ceremony. Dr. Suhas Doke, the convener of the webinar, concluded the three-day event by thanking all of the speakers, higher authorities, and participants. overall it was a brilliant webinar for trending topics.
