INDIAN AIR FORCE JOINS HAND TOWARDS HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE TO MALDIVES

In a swift response to the 'National Crisis' faced by the Maldives, following the shutting down of the desalination plants in a fire incident in capital in Male', the Indian Air Force had pressed fixed wing aircraft into service, carrying a consignment of potable water to meet the immediate requirement of the people in Male'.

Five aircraft including Two C-17 Globemaster-III and Three IL-76 with 153 tones on 05 December 2014 and Three aircraft including Two C-17 and one IL-76 with 130 tones on 06 December 2014 were pressed into service. Two C-17 aircraft have delivered 90 tones of potable water to Male' on 07 Dec 14.

Maldives, an island nation in the Indian Ocean, has no natural water source and consumes only treated sea water.
