Just a note to say that Yes, I am still teaching: on Skype and mainly for the IELTS and academic and business English skills - but also whatever is needed to help out. I no longer teach full-time, so my time-table gets filled up quickly, but am happy to talk to anyone who would like some advice. Best wishes to all - Happy Chanuka, Christmas and other festivals!

Some of the visitors to this page have suggested that I haven't put in enough details about my address and the hours I teach. As I teach on Skype, my hours are flexible and my address is irrelevant. This said, I am always happy to respond to valid criticism and to update this page in creative ways. Any comments are welcome, including negative ones!

almost two weeks have passed since test and finally we got results.
So "Oscar goes to .... both of us" :)
Me: L: 8.5; R: 9.0; W: 7.0, S: 7.0. Sum: 8.0.
Maria: L: 7.5; R: 7.5; W: 7.0, S: 8.5. Sum: 7.5.

Now we have to decide what to do with these points. :)

Hi Iris,
Finally I returned from my IELTS speaking examination and have a
couple of minutes to describe it.
The IELTS offices are located in the business center of Ramat Gan,
so you need to think how you are going to get there. If you are going
to use public transportation check train schedule and bus routes. It's
also not difficult to go there by car as offices are located not far
from Ayalon Highway and you don't need to go deep into the city. There
are also underground parking lots inside buildings so you don't need
to look for free place to park. Nevertheless I had a problem. My car
runs on LPG and it is prohibited to enter poorly ventilated premises
like old parking lots. Fortunately there is a usual parking on the other side of Abba Hillel street. One hour parking costs 20 NIS.
There is nothing special to tell you about the exam itself. An
administrator checks your passport, takes a picture of you and then
you are invited to a soundproof room to talk to an interviewer.

Here are questions I was asked:
Part one:
Interviewer asked what do I do and asked to tell how had I started doing it?
(What do you do? Work? Study? Why did you choose this profession?)

Talk about the weather you prefer.
Would you like to go to any very hot or very cold place?

Part two: (You have a minute to prepare and make notes, pen and paper
are kindly provided by British Council :)
Talk about a good law in your country.
- How do you know about it?
- Who does it affect?
- Why do you think it is a good law?
I spoke about a law which says that drivers are not allowed to drink
and made accent (?) that the allowed alcohol quantity is 0. Not 0.01 or
something like this, but 0.

Part three. Continue of second part - more questions on social topic.
- Do you think most of the people in this country obey laws?
- Is the police a respected profession?
- What qualities should a person have to become policeman?
and one or two more which I don't remember.

By the way, the conversation is recorded. So if you don't want to be
recorded, maybe you should discuss it with administration before exam.
(Iris: They have to be recorded to check on the interviewers.)

As a result, everything is not that difficult. Main thing is to stay
calm. I believe I made my usual mistakes, but I felt comfortable and
spoke freely during this test.
