Weizmann Debate Club

This week we participated in the Juniors 2025 competition, capping off a long and exciting year for our junior teams!
The competition was hosted by the מועדון הדיבייט של האוניברסיטה העברית HUJI Debate and we had a blast.

We sent two teams: Yoad & Mor, and Yuval & Oryna, along with three judges: Maya, Shachar, and Dror.

We are thrilled to share that Yoad & Mor made it to the final! 🥳🥳
Mor was also recognized as the 2nd best speaker of the tournament! 🥈🥈

Our judges also shone brightly: all of them broke, with Shachar and Dror chairing the semi-finals. Maya jumped straight from W1 to W3, and was a panelist in the final! 🎉🎉

We’re also thrilled to share our club’s legendary cheer with juniors from all around!

This week we sent two judges to a brand new kind of competition: The Middle Brother, organized by the incredible מועדון הדיבייט של אוניברסיטת בן-גוריון - BGU Debating Society 🧠🗣️
This unique tournament pairs a junior with a freshman, giving both a chance to learn, grow, and shine together ✨

We’re proud to share that Navve Wasserman served as DCA, helping lead the competition as part of the organizing A team!
And huge congratulations to Dror Bar, who not only broke as a judge but was also selected to chair the Grand Final! 🎉⚖️

Last week we flew to Champagne to enjoy some great cheese, drinks and also to compete in Champagne IV 2025

We send two amazing teams: Itai Slovatik & Alexander Allée, and Maya Segal & Shachar Gold. Both did an amazing job and participated in the ESL final !
Shachar, Maya and Alexander were also the 10th best ESL speakers, and Itai was the 17th.

We debated things like IR, monetary policy,and French politics

We are so proud of all of you, and looking forward for the end of the year competitions

This week we had a wonderful competition in the Reichmann university , hosted by Reichman Debate - מועדון הדיבייט של אוניברסיטת רייכמן.
In this competition each pair includes one junior and one senior debater. We sent 3 teams and 4 judges including our wonderful coaches Miriam and Ayal Mor .

One of our teams , Roi Makov and Yoad Oxman won the final!

Roi was also the top speaker , while Ayal Mor judged the finals.

Overall, all of our debaters learned a lot, and we had a great time debating about protests, narratives in society , international aid funds and life after death.

Last week we had our annual pub quiz, and our first social event of the year!

Our seniors and juniors debaters had to sharpen their mind and answer questions about movies , proverbs, stories and music , and so much more.

A good time to say a big congratulations to our contingent to the English Cup today!!

Alexander Allée & Aditi Kakkad and .gold.5 & all broke to the semis!!!

We won the fantasy open competition!

Last week hosted a competition focused on fantasy - we debated about dwarves, attacks from dragons, how cities are compared to mines, Greek gods and the effect of art in lord of the ring world.

Our and from the .debate won first place and got an amazing trophy to put above their fire place.

Our .gold.5 didn't break on speaks after competing with .is.posting.stuff

To finish with the wise words of Pipin: "You need people of intelligence on this sort of mission...quest...thing."

We had a great start of the year event, with a talk from our chair .gold.5 , our coach Miriam , and an amazing guest lecture from the one and only

We had a show debate from two of our seniors debaters, and who try to convince us if we should have kids .

🎃 Last Wednesday, our debate club ventured into the haunted halls of the Weizmann Institute for the Halloween Open 2024! 🎃

🧛With spine-chilling motions about killer cats, vampires, witches, and zombies, our debaters faced every frightful scenario and lived to tell the tale. And it was worth it!

Huge congratulations to Jessica Gurevich and Rina Neiman from מועדון הדיבייט של אוניברסיטת בן-גוריון - BGU Debating Society for claiming victory! 🏆 Our very own Shachar Gold fearlessly took part in the A-team, Ro'i Makov chaired the final with expertise, and Noam Ottolenghi bravely competed, representing our club in every round! 💪

We couldn’t be prouder of everyone who brought their spooky A-game! Thanks to the Weizmann School of Science for providing the perfect stage for our Halloween horror show of arguments. 👻
