Dear Hanoar Hatzioni family around the world,
Pesach, the Festival of Freedom, arrives this year as well against the backdrop of a complex and challenging reality for the State of Israel and the entire Jewish people. In days when Israel faces threats on multiple fronts, from near and far, we return to ask: what is freedom, and what is required of us to ensure it?
Alongside the security challenges, we also witness great strength: a resilient Israeli home front, a society that continues to stand together, and a deep commitment to ensuring the safety of the citizens of Israel. Within this reality, it becomes clear that freedom is not to be taken for granted, but is the result of responsibility, mutual commitment, and the willingness to act.
Amid all this, Hanoar Hatzioni continues to serve as a source of strength, stability, and hope. In dozens of communities around the world, madrichim and madrichot, chanichim and chanichot, work every day to strengthen identity, connection, and meaningful action, proving that even in complex times, it is possible to choose purpose, unity, and leadership.
For over a hundred years of activity, our movement has known how to be present in defining moments of the Jewish people. Today as well, we remain committed to this mission: strengthening our connection to the State of Israel, deepening our sense of belonging, and educating a young generation that takes responsibility for its future. Especially now, we are called not only to preserve what exists, but to continue building, creating, and leading, and to be part of the broader effort to ensure freedom, security, and hope.
As it is written: “Behold, a people that rises like a lioness and raises itself like a lion”, a people that knows how to stand in the face of challenges, rise from difficulty, and move forward with faith and strength.
We wish all of us a kosher, joyful, and meaningful Passover, a holiday of connection, identity, and deep freedom. The freedom of a people living securely in its land, and of a global community that continues to act together.
Chazak Ve’ematz,
Alex Bitterman
