Since it's inception in 2015, my family has participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s almost every year. It's personal. My mother suffered for over 14 years with this devastating disease before she finally died. My father died while caring for her for most of that time.
Five years ago, I made this quilt from Walk t-shirts and appliqué flowers.
Blue is for someone living with Alzheimer's.
Purple is for someone who has been lost to the disease.
Yellow is for caregivers.
Orange is for people who support the cause.
There is a white one, for survivors -- sadly, this one has never been used.
I donated this quilt (made back in 2021) to the organizers of the Walk, who use it as a yearly reward to the team that earns the most funds. (The team that won in 2022 pictured)
This year, my sister created an outfit from some of her previous Walk shirts!
