At Yashrut, Torah goes where the people are! CTP students Elaina, Binya, and Avital made good use of the seventh-inning stretch at a recent Oakland minor league baseball game to review the latest sugya in Bava Batra. We love seeing our students take their learning with them wherever they go!

To Rabbi Shani Rosenbaum, the details are core the shaping the larger picture. By devoting herself to the study of the fine halakhic nuances of Issur v'Heter, she deepened her sense of belonging in the broader conversation of tradition, and now she masterfully trains others to do the same.
With vibrant enthusiasm, keen listening, and fresh creativity, Rabbi Shani demonstrates the Yashrut ethos of unwavering commitment to the timeless roots of Torah coupled with a personal touch that makes Torah ones own, make a remarkable difference to other seekers and future leaders.
This is the unique impact of a Yashrut rabbi!

Where does Yashrut semikhah lead?
For Rabbi Adam Mayer, it means helping young Jews develop meaningful and enduring connections to Jewish tradition.
For Rabbi Shani Rosenbaum, it means empowering the next generation of Jewish leaders through accessible and rigorous Talmud study.
For Rabbi Jon Kelsen, it means fostering dynamic Torah learning while answering the call to serve the Jewish people in multiple capacities.
Though their work takes different forms, each is bringing Torah, learning, and leadership into the communities they serve.

The Classic Talmud Program's in-person cohort just wrapped up the year with its final shiur, but in Yashrut, the learning never ends!
At the traditional Siyum, we recite: "הדרן עלך והדרך עלן...לא נתנשי מינך ולא תתנשי מינן..." - meaning: "we will return to you, and you will return to us...we will not abandon you, and you will not abandon us..." In this vein, Yashrut learners take their acquired lessons and skills with them wherever they go.
The depth and breadth of learning - from key concepts in Bava Batra, to critical reading skills for approaching rishonim and achronim – will surely continue to guide these fabulous students throughout their ongoing learning journeys!

In a Yashrut shiur, there are no spectators - every student reads and translates the text, every week. This means that each participant gets to build their learning muscles through active experience, receiving gentle feedback as they go, leading to marked improvement throughout the year. The Yashrut classroom is supportive, collaborative, and focused on growth, so that everyone gets to make real progress in their Torah learning journey.

Learning with Yashrut means going beyond Torah study as a mere academic exercise, but instead, engaging with the text from a place of love and reverence, as part of ones relationship with the Divine and with the Jewish People. Students come with a variety of Jewish journeys and practices, but share a deep respect for the sacred nature of this endeavor, an orientation that comes through in every aspect of Yashrut programs.
