Not your average seminary, Amudim offers a modern approach to Torah learning, courses and extracurricular opportunities you won't find anywhere else, all within a warm environment that stresses Shmirat ha-Mitzvot. Amudim stands at the forefront of advanced Torah education, addressing the needs of curious and motivated young women seeking an intellectual and experiential year in Israel. Amudim provides a unique framework for understanding, appreciating and finding oneself in the Jewish world today. With Jerusalem as its backdrop, Amudim is a year in Israel program exclusively for Anglo women to engage with Jewish texts from both traditional and academic perspectives. in our Beit Midrash, no question or source is off the table and students are encouraged to think on their own.

This week, we took the concept of ‘hiddur mitzvah’ from the Beit Midrash into the etrog orchard.

After learning about beauty in Jewish thought and the halakhic criteria that define a beautiful etrog, students considered the intersection between halakhic standards and personal aesthetic. They then headed into the orchard with their visual notes in hand to choose their own etrogim.

Getting up close and personal with the mitzvah transformed “Zeh Keili v’Anveihu” from an idea into something they could see, hold, choose, and make their own.🍋🌿
