ד”ר ברזילי מנהלת את מעבדת המחקר לאובדנות בבית הספר לעבודה סוציאלית ולמדעי הבריאות, ומשמשת כמנהלת מחקר במרפאה לדיכאון ולפגיעה עצמית במרכז שניידר לרפואת ילדים. מחקרה בתחום שיטות הערכה חדשניות ואסטרטגיות למניעת אובדנות, בעיקר בקרב בני נוער, הוביל לפרסום של מעל 40 מאמרים וזיכה אותה במלגות מחקר יוקרתיות.

Huge congratulations to Dr. Shira Barzilay on her promotion to Associate Professor! 🎉

Dr. Barzilay directs the Su***de Research Laboratory at our Faculty of Social Welfare and Health Sciences and serves as research director at the Depression and Self-harm Clinic at Schneider’s Children’s Medical Center. Her work on innovative assessment methods and su***de prevention strategies, particularly among youth, has produced over 40 published papers and earned grants from the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention and NIMH, among others.

We are so proud of you and your continued impact. 👏

מחקרה של הדוקטורנטית בחוג - אלונה שניידמן - פסיכותרפיסטית מוסמכת, זכה לחשיפה בינלאומית בכתבה שפורסמה באתר האמריקאי Mad in America, פלטפורמה בינלאומית מוכרת ומשפיעה בתחום בריאות הנפש.
המחקר נערך בשיתוף עם המנחים מהחוג, פרופ' דויד רועה ופרופ' כרמית-נעה שפיגלמן, יחד עם פרופ' יערה זיסמן-אילני מאוניברסיטת טמפל בארה"ב.
המחקר מתאר את חוויותיהם של צעירים לאחר אפיזודה פסיכוטית ראשונה, צעירים אשר השתתפו בתוכנית NAVIGATE - תוכנית מקיפה להתערבות מוקדמת שמטרתה לתמוך בצעירים בתהליך ההחלמה מאפיזודה זו, לחזק חוסן וכישורי התמודדות, לסייע בחזרה ללימודים ולעבודה, לשלב את המשפחה בתהליך הטיפולי ולאפשר ניהול מותאם אישית של הטיפול התרופתי.
המחקר התמקד בתפיסותיהם ובחוויותיהם של הצעירים בנוגע לטיפול תרופתי אנטי-פסיכוטי ולהפחתתו או הפסקתו, מתוך רצון לקדם הבנה עמוקה יותר של צורכיהם ושל המענים הניתנים להם בשלב ראשוני ומשמעותי זה של ההתמודדות.

מחקרה עוסק בתחומי לימודי מוגבלות, בריאות הנפש ושיקום, ומתמקד בהיבטים החברתיים והרגשיים של חיים עם מוגבלות — לרבות השתתפות בקהילה, איכות חיים ורווחה נפשית של מבוגרים ומבוגרים בגיל השלישי עם מוגבלות שכלית התפתחותית ופסיכיאטרית. היא חוקרת גם את חוויית ההורות בקרב מבוגרים עם מוגבלות, מתוך ניסיונה האישי כאם עם מוגבלות פיזית.

Huge congratulations to Prof. Carmit-Noa Spiegelman on her promotion to Associate Professor! 🎉

Her research spans disability studies, mental health, and rehabilitation — exploring the social and emotional dimensions of living with a lifelong disability, including community participation, quality of life, and wellbeing among adults and older adults with intellectual, developmental, and psychiatric disabilities. She also studies parenthood among adults with disabilities, drawing on her own experience as a mother with a physical disability.
