🎉SNAs & Teachers are precious to our children and hold a huge influence on how children learn language. This training is designed to help you to feel confident in understanding and supporting children who learn language using Gestalt language Processing. Hope to see you there. Please share ❤️

I introduce reading along with speech when working with Gestalt Language Processors. So many have really strong pattern recognition, seeing a written word can allow them connect it to their gestalts. Linking it with fun and connection is still the magic sauce.

This child I was working with today can type the name of his favourite characters but not the words targeted in school. So linking written text to motivating topics is key.

Confused about what the purpose of a Speech & Language Assessment is for your child? This might clear it up

It was Sandy Soaking and Super! (Naturally we finished because of the rain…in June!)

We experienced S in a fun, pressure free way. Children engaged in whatever way was accessible to them at that moment whether it was saying the sound, making up stories, listening to others, being around a group, observing from a distance.

If you’d like activities to target S during the summer on the beach. Comment “beach” below and I’ll send them to you for free

What do you think of these ways of targeting sounds?

If you like this content or activities please follow along or share with people who might benefit ❤️

Come join us on

🏜️ Beartra Beach
⏰ Wednesday 10th June @ 12.30

Let’s have fun:
☀️saying the S sound
☀️ hunting for items that start with s
☀️ finding all the things we can hear, see, smell and touch that start with S
☀️ write and decorate a S in the sand
☀️ make up a story with all our S words

This is informal and fun. All children and adults welcome. Every child needs to be accompanied and supervised by their adult.

Let’s clear things up 🤍
These are some signs your child may benefit from speech & language therapy around age 2. With so much well-meaning advice coming from all directions, it can feel overwhelming. But the most reliable guidance will always come from a speech & language therapist.
Many children develop communication skills in their own time—but if support is needed, early intervention makes a real difference. If you’ve been considering a referral, trust your instinct. Getting an expert opinion can bring clarity, reassurance, and a plan if needed.

It’s hard not to feel overwhelmed while waiting…
wondering what’s happening and thinking too far ahead.
But this is something I’ve learned:
you can’t rush this process.
You can be doing everything right, showing up fully—and still, the timing has to be right.
So when it feels out of your control, come back to what is in your control.
Take one small step. Then another.
It all adds up… I promise 🤍

Development of communication can be look different when a child’s brain and nervous system have competing challenges. When we are in a stress response or having to put our attention elsewhere we can’t access our language or learn. I’d argue that any child with a sensitive nervous system who has difference in acquiring language has a nervous system rather than a communication difficulty as its root cause, and that is where we need to put our attention first.

What are your thoughts?

Thank you to Tommy Marren and Mid West Radio for having us on Friday, 27th February, to speak about our free advice clinic event.
We really appreciate the opportunity to discuss the support available, and to help spread the word to the wider community.
