Maynooth University Biotechnology graduate Reshma Thomas (2025 BSc) shares her experience of Pfizer’s graduate programme with The Irish Times.

Reshma, who found out about the graduate programme during a STEM fair at Maynooth University reflects on her journey so far - gaining experience across different areas of biopharma and learning through hands-on experience.
She is now building on that experience through a Master’s in Biopharmaceutical Engineering. 👏

Among last weeks new graduates, the Development and Alumni Relations Office team were very proud to congratulate Ariadna-Mihaela Zlotea, conferring with a First-Class Honours degree in Economics and International Development. Ariadna-Mihaela has worked with us on a number of events this past year, such as the Alumni Reunion and Science Week, and she has been a wonderful additon to our team, bringing energy, enthusiasm and professionalism. We are very grateful for all her hard work and sad to see her go, but we wish her all the best on this next exciting chapter and are very excited to see what's next! 🌟

The 2026 Maynooth University Alumni Reunion last week was a wonderful wonderful celebration of our alumni and University community 🎊 It was fantastic to welcome so many familiar faces back to campus and celebrate the connections, memories and friendships that make our alumni community so special✨

Graduates and staff from across the decades came back to campus to reconnect, reminisce and relive the friendships, memories, and experiences that keep us connected.

From milestone anniversaries to wonderful musical performances and special celebrations across the University community, it was a day filled with memories and moments to treasure.

A particular highlight was seeing alumni from the classes of 1976, 1986, 1996, 2006 and 2016 come together, alongside graduates marking other special milestones. 🎓

Thank you to everyone who returned to campus and helped make the reunion such a memorable occasion. 🧡

🎓 As our September Conferrings draw to a close, we congratulate all members of the Class of 2026 and thank them for the contribution they have made to university life. We look forward to following their future achievements and welcoming them as the newest members of the MU Alumni Community.

Today we celebrate our graduates from Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Social Sciences, Community Studies, Entrepreneurship and International Business, alongside postgraduate, Master's and doctoral graduates whose dedication has contributed to academic excellence and societal impact.

From Accounting and Finance and Economics to Social Work, Entrepreneurship and Business Management, today's graduates exemplify the ambition, leadership and global outlook that define the Maynooth University community.

🎓 With day three of September Conferrings at Maynooth University. Campus is alive with celebration as graduates gather with family, friends, and classmates to their special graduation day. From proud smiles to memorable photographs, there is a wonderful atmosphere across campus as we celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2026.

Today, we are delighted to welcome graduates from Education, Law and Teacher Education programmes, including Early Childhood Teaching and Learning, Education, Civil Law, Law, Educational Guidance Counselling and Professional Master of Education programmes, alongside postgraduate and doctoral graduates.

These graduates will go on to shape classrooms, communities, organisations and public life both in Ireland and beyond. We congratulate them on their achievements and wish them every success in the years ahead.

🎓 Congratulations to the graduates celebrated yesterday and today at the opening of Maynooth University's September 2026 Conferring Ceremonies. 🎉

Yesterday we were delighted to meet graduates from Science, Engineering and Technology, Psychology, Mathematics, alongside Master's and doctoral researchers whose work is advancing knowledge and innovation across a wide range of fields. celebrating graduates across Arts, Humanities, Languages and Music.

This morning we welcomed graduates of the Bachelor of Arts (Double Major), Bachelor of Arts International, Higher Diploma in Arts (English), alongside Master's and doctoral graduates in History, English, Greek and Roman Civilisation, and Philosophy.

This afternoon, we celebrated graduates from Arts, Media Studies and Music programmes, and the Dioplóma Iarchéime san Aistriúchán agus san Eagarthóireacht, together with doctoral graduates from the School of Modern Languages and Literatures.

The conferring ceremony marks both the culmination of years of dedication and the beginning of exciting new opportunities ahead. It was wonderful to see graduates celebrating this milestone with family, friends and supporters on campus.

Congratulations to Dr Fiachra Humphries (2013, PhD), whose lab has been awarded three major National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants totalling almost $8 million to advance research into inflammatory disease and potential treatments for Parkinson’s disease, lupus and sepsis.

Dr Humphries completed his BSc in Biotechnology in 2008 and PhD in Immunology in 2013 before joining UMass Chan Medical School in Massachusetts, USA, where he is now an Assistant Professor.

We’re delighted to see our alumnus leading such important research with the potential to make a real difference to patients worldwide. 👏

Paddy Harrington Golf Scholarship alumnus Stuart Grehan (2017 BBS), who captured the 2026 Amateur Championship at Royal Liverpool in June, is playing in the Walker Cup in Lahinch this Saturday. Grehan is the only only Irish representative this year in the Great Britain and Ireland team. We wish him the best tomorrow and in his preparations for Augusta 2026. 🤞 🏌️ ⛳

“Put it this way,” said Amateur champion Grehan who has looked steely eyed all week in his quest to get one over on the US. “I was very, very disappointed last year. Call a spade a spade, yeah."

⭐ Graduate Spotlight: Raneem Abubaker (2025 BBA) ⭐

“It is always difficult to start something new and it’s more difficult to be hard on yourself expecting everything to be perfect.”

We are delighted to spotlight graduate Raneem Abubaker, Business Services Graduate at Matheson LLP

After graduating recently with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Marketing), Raneem joined the Matheson team. Her role feeds her curiosity and offers her the opportunity to be involved in different sides of the business.

Raneem's advice to current students is to enjoy the present, volunteer during your time in university, attend career workshops and to make use of the tools the Student Success team offers.
