What Comes After Sorry? is the third phase of a collaborative creative project which uses creative writing, visual art and making to explore apology, accountability, safety and solidarity, hosted by UCC Alumni and participants in the Dillons Cross Project.

Join this workshop at University College Cork Library, where you will be introduced to the project and invited to write an apology on a piece of fabric. These pieces will be tied together as bunting and draped from the sail, continuing the collective artwork and conversation.

The Dillon’s Cross Project provides educational and social support to partners and families affected by imprisonment.

Climate change affects all of us; to build mental resilience to climate change and its negative effects is fundamental in ageing, where other challenges can accumulate.
In this workshop, we will explore how to support mental resilience in ageing. We will also present a series of online modules designed to deepen knowledge and skills on this topic. This workshop is of particular interest for anyone working with older people, particularly Health and Social Care professionals.

In Irish folklore, the 14th of February is not just about love, it also had the potential to predict the weather!

In Co. Galway, it was said that if a hedgehog emerged from its winter shelter at noon on Valentine’s Day and saw its own shadow, it would retreat for another six weeks, a sign that hard weather was still to come.

While in Co. Tipperary, people believed the rooks chose their mates on Valentine’s Day and began building their nests in early February. If the nests were built low, a poor summer was expected. If they were high, a fine summer lay ahead. An early cuckoo, too, was taken as a warning of bad weather to come.

These beliefs, recorded in the National Folklore Collection, remind us that Valentine’s Day was once a moment for reading signs in nature, not just exchanging cards.
