As you move through the later stages of pregnancy, your babyâs position may become a bigger part of the conversation at your antenatal appointments.
If your baby is vertex, their head is pointing downwards in preparation for birth. A baby who is breech is positioned with their bottom or feet down, while transverse describes a baby lying horizontally. These terms can sound unfamiliar, but babies often reposition themselves as pregnancy progresses.
Looking for comfortable ways to keep moving? Depending on your individual pregnancy, you may enjoy:
đś Taking short movement breaks during the day
đ§ Using an exercise or birthing ball
đŞ Keeping your knees slightly lower than your hips when seated
đ Supporting your side-sleeping position with pillows
đ Trying gentle, low-impact movement in the water
Movement recommendations are not one-size-fits-all. Talk with your midwife or maternity care team about what is safe for you and any questions you have about your babyâs position.
