Silence in teams is rarely neutral.

Gallup’s State of the Global Workplace report shows only 23% of employees are engaged globally. A key driver of disengagement is feeling unheard.

When concerns are not voiced, assumptions grow. When feedback is avoided, performance drifts.

Clarity is not confrontation. It is leadership.

L&D question for early careers teams:

As careers become less linear and roles evolve faster, skill priorities are shifting.

Our research shows that both early-career professionals and midlife transitioners are reassessing what really matters for long-term employability.

Which skill feels most critical for your teams right now?

🔹 Critical thinking
🔹 Communications
🔹 Mentorship skills
🔹 Leadership

Or something else?

In our recent Masterclass, Gen Z participants were clear:
• They want to understand context, not just content
• They don’t want to blindly trust tools
• They want to learn how to question AI responsibly

The organisations that thrive will be those that teach people how to think, not just what to use. Talk to us about strengthening critical thinking in the age of AI across your teams, or find out more about our Critical Thinking programme here: https://lnkd.in/dyBQ8DVK

Gen Z is changing how we learn and work, and the shift is structural, not stylistic.

Insights from our recent joint Masterclass and Gen Z research study with Learnovate Centre, Trinity College Dublin show that learning is only valued when it is:
• Immediately applicable
• Embedded in real work
• Short, focused and purposeful

Recent Deloitte research also supports this, finding that over 70% of Gen Z employees prefer learning that is self-directed and on-demand.

Gen Z is one of the most researched generations… and still one of the most misunderstood in the workplace.

Between assumptions about attention spans, motivation, and work ethic, it’s easy to miss what the evidence actually shows about how early career talent learns, engages, and develops.

This carousel pulls together research-backed insights from our recent study undertaken with Learnovate Centre, Trinity College Dublin into how Gen Z thinks, what they value at work, and what this means for learning design, early careers programmes, and long-term capability building.

No hype. No stereotypes. Just data.

Swipe through to explore:
• What Gen Z expects from learning and development
• How they engage with training and feedback
• Where early careers programmes often miss the mark
• What needs to evolve to support performance and retention

If you work in early careers or L&D, this generation isn’t something to “figure out later”. They’re already shaping how learning needs to work.
