Rodrigo Mendonça is working on a piece that follows the lives of children growing up in La Esperanza, one of the most vulnerable districts of Trujillo, Peru, where violence, poverty and inequality can limit opportunities from an early age.

At the centre is Hilo Rojo, an NGO supporting children and families through education and community programmes. The piece explores how its work helps children stay connected to education and build alternative paths for their future, despite the challenges around them.
