🍀 Best of luck tomorrow! 🍀

Wishing everyone receiving their Leaving Cert results tomorrow the very best of luck, especially all our past pupils. 🎓💛

Whatever the results, be proud of how far you’ve come — there’s always another path to where you want to go. ✨

“Your results don’t define you — they’re just one small part of your story.” 💫

It is with great sadness that, on behalf of Geashill Parents Council and our entire school community, we extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Coughlan and Kelly families on the passing of Kathleen.

Our thoughts are especially with Eddie, our much-valued caretaker, on the loss of his sister, and Denise, our wonderful school secretary, on the loss of her mother-in-law, as well as Kathleen’s wider family and friends at this very difficult time.

Kathleen was a familiar and much-loved figure in Geashill, known by so many as a kind, gentle and caring person. Her warmth and kindness touched many lives, and she will be greatly missed throughout our community.

As a mark of respect anyone who wishes to stand out with us at the school today, Kathleen will be arriving home for 3.30 pm

Funeral arrangements are included below.

May Kathleen rest in peace. 🕊️

Hi everyone!

We hope all our Geashill N.S. families are having a lovely break and enjoying the summer holidays .

We wanted to share a little reminder about something special happening in our skies tomorrow evening -a solar eclipse 🌞 🌑

It should be a lovely opportunity for the children (and grown-ups) to enjoy a little bit of astronomy together . Have a look at the poster below for the times, some fun facts and, most importantly , how to watch safely 😎

Enjoy, and fingers crossed for clear skies. 🙌

A Heartfelt Thank You

We extend our sincere thanks to all the parents, current students, past pupils, staff, and members of our wider school community who joined us today to pay their final respects to Fr. Coonan.

Your presence at his funeral, and the moving Guard of Honour as we accompanied him to his final resting place, was a beautiful and fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to our school, parish, and community.

May Fr. Coonan rest in eternal peace.

A reminder that the Guard of Honour for Fr. Coonan will take place tomorrow, Monday 3rd August, at 1:15pm at St. Mary's Church, Raheen.

All current and past pupils, along with their parents and families, are very welcome to join us. Children taking part in the Guard of Honour should please assemble just inside the entrance gate at the side of the church, where members of the Geashill NS staff will be there to meet them.

Thank you all so much for your support as we come together to give Fr. Coonan a fitting farewell and to honour his many years of dedicated service to our school and parish. May he rest in peace.

We received the very sad news this morning of the death of Msgr. Tom Coonan. He has served as our school chaplain for over twenty five years and was a much loved and valued member of our school community. He was deeply appreciated by students, staff and parents alike for his kindness and for the interest he showed in everything that was happening in our school.

He had a special gift for connecting with our pupils and through his many visits to our classrooms, he shared the message of Jesus' love for us all. He worked very closely with 2nd and 6th Classes every year helping them prepare for the sacraments.

He continued his dedicated service to our school as chairperson of our board of management up to 2024 and as a member of the board for the last two years. His wisdom, guidance and friendship has left a lasting imprint on our school.

We extend our sincere sympathies to his family and friends, his parish community and all who mourn his loss.

📢 Parent Notification Application for September 2027 School Placements is Now Open

The NCSE (National Council for Special Education) has opened the Parent Notification Application for families who wish to enrol their child in a special class or special school for September 2027.

🗓️ Closing Date: 1 September 2026

What does this mean?

If you are considering a special class or special school placement for your child for the 2027 school year, completing the Parent Notification Application lets the NCSE know that your child may require a placement. This information helps the NCSE plan and ensure that enough special school and special class places are available where they are needed.

Please note that this is not an application for a specific school place. Instead, it is a way of informing the NCSE of your child's potential need for a special class or special school placement so they can plan services and capacity.

If your child may require this type of placement for September 2027, please complete the Parent Notification Application before the closing date.
