A Doctor's Sword opens at Tralee Omniplex on Friday 28th Aug!!! The film was produced by ITT lecturer, Bob Jackson and tells the almost unbelievable story of a young doctor from West Cork (Aidan MacCarthy) who survived the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, and his family’s search to uncover the origin of the Japanese Samurai sword which he brought home from the war. The sword now resides in MacCarthy’s Bar in Castletownbere. Not to be missed!!!

Killarney Library will host a free two-day animation workshop entitled "Animation, Design in Motion". The course will be an introduction to animation and visual story telling, giving people an insight into the processes of creating a stop-motion animated video. Participants will work on the principles of animation, set and character design and production, through the medium of stop-motion animation.

The workshop will take place on Friday 17th July & Saturday 18th from 10.00 am – 4.00 pm and will be facilitated by Elias Spinn. The target age group is 16-19 years. Prior booking essential as places are limited. To reserve a place on the workshop please contact Killarney Library on 064-6632655.

Congratulations to MA in Creative Media Graduate Audrey Galvin for winning the Gold Medal in the 2015 New York Festivals International Radio Program Awards, with her MA in Creative Media Production 'The Silent Wounded'. Audrey’s piece is a powerful and challenging radio documentary which tells the story of two people in Kerry living with an acquired brain injury. The NYF's International Radio Program Awards for The World's Best Radio Programs honours radio programming and promotions from radio stations, networks and independent producers from around the globe. These Radio Awards present a very strong global competition, the piece has been selected above entries from over 30 countries.
The ceremony took place on Monday 22nd June at Manhattan Penthouse on New York’s Fifth Avenue.
