Collooney Community Playground

28/09/2026

We’re delighted to have the repairs to our playground completed and to see it looking great again! 😊

A big thank you to Sligo LEADER Partnership Company Ltd for funding the work through the SICAP Community Grant Scheme. We really appreciate the support and investment in our local community.

The playground is there for all the children in our community to enjoy, so we hope they have lots of fun playing, exploring and making memories there.

We’d just ask everyone to please look after the playground and respect the equipment, so that it can be enjoyed by our children for many years to come.

Collooney Community Playground is a fully community-funded facility, and responsibility for its upkeep, maintenance, repairs and insurance now rests with our newly formed volunteer committee.

Our immediate priority is raising this year's insurance premium and secure the playground's future for the coming year.

We have contacted local businesses seeking sponsorship and are very grateful for the response received so far.

Unfortunately, we were unable to source contact details for every business in the area, so if you own a business and have not heard from us, please get in touch @ [email protected]

We would also welcome donations from individuals who would like to support the playground. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help us reach our target and keep the playground open for local children and families.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the local businesses who have already contributed towards this year's costs:

Oh Hello Clothing

Whiteside’s Centra Collooney

SLEATER SOLUTIONS

Nealon Engineering Ltd

Your support is greatly appreciated and is helping to secure the future of this much-loved community amenity.

Thank you for supporting Collooney Community Playground.

📣📣 Feeling Disheartened 🥺🥺

As a community owned playgound and shared space, this facility belongs to all of us.

We love to see our youth enjoy themselves, unfortunately, we continue to find significant amounts of rubbish being left behind on a regular basis.

This is unacceptable. The playground is maintained through the efforts of volunteers and community members, and it is not the responsibility of others to clean up litter that has been carelessly discarded.

We are asking all parents, guardians, and users of the park to respect the space. Unfortunately, we have had to remove a bin due to repeated misuse, including household waste being dumped in it by both adults and others.

Please be aware that CCTV cameras are in operation.

We want this to remain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy. Respect for the space and for the people who use and maintain it is essential.

We’d really appreciate it if local community groups could share this message to help raise awareness and encourage respect for the playground and amenities.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who gave up their time, energy, and muscle power to help with our local clean-up. Your hard work truly made a difference, and the before and after photos say it all! 🙌

Due to additional works needing to be carried out before we can move to the next stage of our re-vamp, tomorrow’s clean- up has been postponed.

We’ll share an update soon with the new date and next steps 📅

And if you missed this one, keep an eye out, we’d love to have you join us next time 🦺🔨🎨

🚧 Playground Closed for Cleanup 🌿

To help keep our playground clean, safe, and ready for fun, we will be closing the playground from Friday through Monday for scheduled cleanup and maintenance.

This temporary closure is necessary to ensure the health and safety of all children and families who use the space. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation while we complete this important work.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday to enjoy a fresh and refreshed playground! 🌞

Thank you for your support!

A quick share goes a long way in supporting our playground cleanup! 😊

🌱 Community Playground Clean-Up 🌱

Our local playground could use a little love, and we’d love some helping hands!

No experience needed, just bring yourself (and kids are welcome with supervision). Gloves and gardening equipment appreciated if you have them.

Whether you can stay for a few hours or just pop by for 15 minutes, every helping hand makes a difference.

Let’s work together to keep this space safe and fun for our kids 💛
