A follow up from our emerging butterflies 🦋💕
A wonderful experience for our Bizzy Bs children
In the video we can see the butterfly's proboscis acting like a straw. It allows the butterfly to consume all of its nutrients in liquid form, primarily drawing up flower nectar.
Did you know?

Butterflies have taste sensors on their feet. When they land on a potential food source, they uncoil the proboscis to drink.

The Life Cycle of the Butterfly 🦋
At Bizzy Bs Preschool, we are dedicated to following children’s interests and educating them through real-life experiences.

Since our return from Easter holidays the children have been observing the life cycle of the butterfly, tracking the journey from tiny caterpillars to winged beauties."
The Butterfly 🦋

This has been in line with the junior class learning about the bees and pollination over the last couple of months.
They will have a picnic next week to release the Butterflies in line with a story they have been focusing on “the bear who came to tea” this was read from a book displayed on a story board and also with characters on a story table, whereby they could be the narrator.

The older class will release their butterflies also on the Green .. observing them fly to meet their new friends. This is in line with their project on Keeping our Earth Happy “ pollination and the wonderful creatures that help us.

I’m hoping to catch them using their proboscis to get the juice from an orange.. recommend feeding.
I’m sure the older children will witness this next week as presently all their caterpillars are still sleeping 😃
Watch the video closely 😉

World Bee Day celebrations at Bizzy Bs Preschool ....

At Bizzy Bs Preschool, we are dedicated to following children’s interests and educating them through real-life experiences.

Recently, the children in our Honeybee Room noticed that bees had begun to visit our garden. This sparked an interest in learning more about these wonderful creatures. Earlier in the year, we explored flowers, including their different parts and what helps them grow. This foundation helped our educators explain to the children where bees find pollen and nectar.

The children learned about the different types of bees, discovering that honeybees collect pollen on their legs and nectar in their stomachs, while bumblebees primarily gather pollen. They also learned that bees, along with other creatures, are important pollinators necessary for the reproduction of flowers and crops, highlighting their significance for our planet.

The children had great fun mimicking the ‘waggle dance’ of the bees, which is an amazing navigation system that allows them to show other bees where to find flowers! We enjoyed a lovely snack of raw honey on crackers, for which we are all very thankful to the bees. 😊

At Bizzy Bs, we encourage creativity, so to extend the children’s learning, we listened to a beautiful piece of music:
*The Flight of the Bumblebee.*
As we experienced the sensation of flying like a bee on our swings, collecting pollen from flower to flower, the children squeezed paint bottles to create art on a large canvas laid on the ground beneath them. The educators joined in on the fun as well!

This beautiful work of art will be displayed in our outdoor garden. Stay tuned for more updates!**World Bee Day Celebrations at Bizzy Bs Preschool**

It was lovely to have Michelle our music teacher back this week for another term.
Michelle visits both classrooms every Monday as part of our curriculum.

The focus this term is body percussion a new and popular trend with music for preschoolers.
For one of the songs- Michelle will intro The Bare Necessities-the children will follow and copy her as she taps, claps or stomps in time to the music. This is not only great fun but also helps improve motor skills, memory, coordination as well as helping children feel and understand basic music skills like beat and rhythm.

Why MUSIC is Important in Child Development -
Music is vital for preschoolers as it fosters holistic development, enhancing cognitive ability, language skills, motor coordination, and social-emotional growth. Through rhythm, song, and movement, children improve memory, self-regulation, and creativity while building essential connections in the brain that aid learning

Some updates on the previous term.

It was a joy to welcome back two former Bizzy BS students, Cara and Olivia. They came to participate in our St. Patrick's Day festivities. They demonstrated their incredible Irish dancing talents to the children, who were thrilled to join them on the floor.

The children also like visiting our local nursing home, and for St. Patrick's Day, they gave them a planter filled with Shamrocks that they had planted at school. This was followed by an art workshop with the residents, where the children sang and danced. The morning was enjoyed by all.

We also celebrated World Down Syndrome Day, and all the children and educators wore different coloured socks. After some colourful, celebratory activities, we all had a colourful ice pop to cool down.
