Wishing Daniel Downey the very best of luck as he proudly represents Team Ireland at the European Athletics U18 Championships in Rieti, Italy this weekend.
Daniel has earned his place on the Irish team following an outstanding season of record-breaking performances and will compete in the Boys’ 400m Hurdles and the Medley Relay against Europe’s top young athletes.
We are incredibly proud of all that Daniel has achieved and know he will represent Ireland with pride on the international stage.

🏀🇮🇪 The summer international season got off to a fantastic start today, with Portlaoise Panthers proudly represented on the Ireland U17 Men's National Team!

A huge congratulations to our Men's National League Head Coach, Ciarán Kenevey, who guided Ireland to a superb opening victory over England in the Four Nations Tournament.

An even bigger shout-out to our own Justice Iheme, who produced a brilliant performance being the leading scorer for Ireland with 19 points as Ireland secured a 77-64 win. 🔥

Well done to our U19 , 4x100m relay team winning Silver🥈in Leinster Juvenile Championship in SETU Carlow today qualifying for nationals. Well done ,Uchenna Okoroji, Ruairi Molloy, Dinny Whelan and Reuben Plunkett 👏👏👏👏

That’s it for another year in Cookery Club! 👨🏼‍🍳 Well done to all who attended. We produced some really tasty dishes this year and everybody who attended improved their culinary skills...(and developed their music knowledge, thanks to the song selection). 🔴⚫Incoming ... All Ireland Championships!⚫🔴
Congratulations to Daniel Downey who true to form finished an impressive 2nd place 🥈in the 400m hurdles. This is his first year as Senior and mixing in well with the competition. 🎉
He was out again later with the 4x400m relay team 🏃🏃‍♂️ The boys went on to win the event in what was a showstopper race 🏁 The team was led out by Reuben Plunkett who put them in a great position. This was held very well by Dinny Whelan and David Wajrak to hold onto 2nd place handing over to Dan on the last leg. Dan sealed the deal by crossing the line first 🥇🥇🥇🥇

This has secured the lads place in the All Ireland which will takes place this Sat where the boys have very high hopes to place on the podium again🤞🤞We wish them the very best of luck ☘️☘️

This Senior boys team are no strangers to success as following on from last year they managed to win the Team Competition in South Leinsters for the school with the best over points across Track and Field Events. The other boys who made up this are Sansao Norton Silver, Ruairi Molloy, Tawanda Kazunga, Scott Byrne and Uchenna Okorji 🏆 This is a huge achievement for our school as it had never been done before and the boys have done it 2 years in a row now ! 👏👏 🔴⚫
