🌱 TY Thrive programme is off to a great start! 🌱
Our TY students have had a fantastic start to the programme, getting stuck into a range of activities designed to promote wellbeing, creativity, teamwork, and connection with nature.
🌱 Clearing, cleaning, and organising the school’s polytunnel and getting hands-on with horticulture and preparing the space for future projects.
🤝 Team-building activities to build communication and collaboration.
🧘 Mindfulness and relaxation activities
🎨 Creative activities encouraging self-expression and wellbeing.

Wellbeing in Action! 💚
Our First Years completed their first, of a weekly sandwich-making session as part of their Wellbeing class, making over 300 sandwiches for people experiencing homelessness.
A fantastic example of teamwork, kindness and giving back, in conjunction with PATH and Laois Volunteer Centre. 👏

Today, our Second Year students took part in Anti-Bullying Workshops led by our student leadership teams, Meitheal, Treoirí and Papal Cross, as part of the Bí Cineálta framework. Students enjoyed icebreaker games and activities that promoted teamwork, empathy and positive connections. 🤝
They also took part in an active discussion with Pat Forde from StopTheBully.com. His programme provides practical, confidence-building strategies to help young people deal with bullying in school and in the wider community. Our students explored positive ways to prevent and respond to bullying, showing great maturity and awareness. 💬
A sincere thank you to our Meitheal, Treoirí and Papal Cross leaders, who were outstanding role models throughout the day. 👏

Our Class of 2027 are now well settled back into the school routine and recently gathered for their first assembly of the year. 🎓
They discussed their goals for the months ahead, the importance of showing up for themselves each day and making the most of their final year together. 💪
The aim is that every student will leave St Mary’s with their head held high, proud of everything they have achieved and of the young men they have become. 📚
Only 261 days until their graduation and very last day at St Mary’s- not that they’re counting!
Here’s to a positive, successful and memorable final year for the Class of 2027! ❤️🖤

Introducing our Treoirí 2026-27 team! ✨ Our Treoirí student leadership group took part in training this week, developing their leadership skills through teamwork, communication and team-building activities.
This group of 5th Year students will work with our 2nd Years throughout the year, running activities that encourage friendships, bonding and inclusivity.
We look forward to seeing our Treoirí put their new skills into action and help ensure every student feels included and connected within our school community. ❤️🖤

Fresh air is one of the best ways to wake up your body and mind before the school day begins! ☀️🚶‍♂️
We are still enjoying some beautiful mornings, so why not walk to school or walk part of the journey? Even a short walk can help you feel more awake, refreshed and ready to concentrate in class. It is also a great way to support positive mental health and overall wellbeing.
Walking is better for the environment too. With traffic congestion around our schools at an all-time high, every student who chooses to walk can help make a real difference.
Start the day with fresh air, movement and a clearer mind!

Come along and meet our staff and students, explore our school facilities, and get a feel for life at St. Mary’s CBS.
Guided tours will run from 6pm - 7pm, with subject presentations and demonstrations throughout the evening.

Well done to Ruairí Molloy and Dinny Whelan on the making of this fantastic sculpture for Electric Picnic!
Their ‘Glow-Pokes’ installation can be seen near the Salty Dog area over the weekend.
If you’re heading to Electric Picnic, be sure to keep an eye out for it and see if you can spot their brilliant work! 👏🎨
