A reminder that Sports Day will take place tomorrow (Wednesday) in Gusserane National School. A fun day of different sporting activities awaits our pupils. Please ensure your child is wearing comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for sporting events. The weather is due to be warm, please ensure your child is wearing sun cream and has a peak hat with them where possible as they will be spending the majority of the day outside.

🎒 Back to School Allowance – Applications Now Open!

The Back to School Clothing & Footwear Allowance helps families cover the cost of school uniforms and shoes for the 2025/26 school year.

✅ Payment amounts:
• €160 for children aged 4–11
• €285 for children aged 12–22 (must be returning to full-time second-level education if over 18)

✅ How to apply:
Visit your MyWelfare account and complete the online form.
📅 Deadline to apply: 30 September 2025
If you don’t receive the payment automatically, you must apply to qualify!

✅ Important notes:
• Payments will be issued from the week beginning 7 July 2025
• The allowance is means-tested – income limits apply (starting at €694 per week for one child)
• It covers uniforms and footwear only – not educational devices like tablets or laptops

A get together for all who participated in Rackard League football and hurling/camogie competitions this year will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 in Gusserane NS on Monday 16th June. Pupils are welcome to stay in school from 3:00 to 3:30. Medals will be presented for football competitions. Refreshments will be provided.

Good Morning

Reminder re’ Opening of Spàs Glas today at 11am.

We would love to see as many families as possible.

This event is in place of the fun run, so it will be the last whole school community get-together for this school year.

Please note this is not a fundraising event, but a donation bucket will be available as some extended members of our school community like to donate at these events.

So come along, bring the teddy bears & have some fun with face painting balloon modelling & lots of treats 🧸🍰🍩

Gusserane NS will hold a Garden Party / Teddy Bears Picnic on Sunday 25th May at 11am at the school. The Garden Party will celebrate the opening of the school's new Sensory Garden “An Spás Glas”.

Tea/Coffee and refreshments will be served on the morning. Face painting and balloon making activities will also take place.

The school would like to invite all members of the Gusserane community to celebrate this event with them. Children are invited to bring their favourite bear to join in the celebrations through a teddy bears picnic.

We would love as many people as possible to join us on the day and take a look at this fabulous new asset to our school. If you have any questions regarding this event, please do not hesitate to contact the school on 051-564031.

We will be holding our parents association meeting tomorrow Wednesday 7th May@ 8pm in the school and it would be great to see as many people as possible.

We have many events coming up with a busy end to the school year and it would be great to see everyone as many of you as possible to plan and discuss these events.

A reminder that tomorrow is the final day of the Scholastic Book Fair in school. Pupils can bring in money tomorrow to purchase books during the school day if they wish to. The Book Fair will be open from 2.00-3.00pm in Gusserane Hall for parents to browse/purchase books.
