Our School Walk took place on Monday this week. The weather couldn’t have been better and the smiles couldn’t have been better either. The school walk is a valuable fundraising event for our school and is carefully organised by Ms. Kelly every year. It also provides a great opportunity for students and staff to come together as a community.

Transition Year is not just about learning. This week, Patrick, Danny, Conor and Zach got to try out teaching. They came up with some great Irish vocabulary games to help teach 1st years as Gaeilge! Bhí siad an-mhaith ar fad!

⚽️ What a fantastic turnout for our first soccer training session of the season at CBS Park! 🙌

It was brilliant to see so many familiar faces and new players getting involved, having fun and enjoying being back on the pitch! 💪⚽️

Here’s to a great season ahead — let’s go! 🎉

6th Year Geography students travelled to Tramore today for their Fieldwork Investigation which is worth 20% of their final grade.

Despite some windy weather at times, students carefully collected all their data which when analysed will help them understand why Tramore beach exists there.

Thanks to Mr. Browne, Ms. Kelly, Ms. Murphy, Ms. Ryan and Ms. Tighe who supported students today and we best all Geography students the best when writing up their report in the coming weeks.

🌟 SNA Appreciation Day at CBS New Ross! 🌟
Today we celebrated our wonderful SNAs — Sarah, Rachel, Jess and Vicky — and all the incredible work they do to support our students every single day. 💙

Our SNAs are such an important part of our school community. Their dedication, care, patience and commitment make a real difference to our students and we are so grateful for everything they do throughout the year.

🎁 Our Principal, Deputy Principal and SEN Team presented our SNAs with some gifts as a small token of our appreciation.

📸 SNA Jess is missing from the photo, but very much included in our celebrations!

Thank you, Sarah, Rachel, Jess and Vicky, for all your hard work, support and care. We value you more than words can say! 💙🌟

🌳🌳Our 3rd year science students ventured to the John F. Kennedy Arboretum for a hands-on habitat study that brought classroom concepts to life. This 252-hectare arboretum provided an ideal outdoor laboratory for our budding ecologists.

Students were divided into small research teams, each assigned to investigate different habitats within the arboretum. Armed with quadrats, identification guides, and data collection sheets, they conducted systematic surveys of plant diversity, soil conditions, and wildlife presence across woodland and meadow ecosystems.

Thanks to their science teachers: Mr Curran, Ms Morrissey, and Ms Owens for organising this field trip. And thanks to our wonderful SNAs Rachel and Sarah.

Bhí an t-ádh orainn ar maidin nuair a chuireamar fáilte roimh ár Iarpríomhoide, Mr. Rossiter, ar ais go dtí an seomra ranga.

Thug sé achoimre dúinn ar an leabhar nua le nótaí don Ardteistiméireacht a scríobh sé chun cabhair agus cúnamh a thabhairt do lucht na hÁrdteiste atá ag déanamh staidéar ar an téacs - Dordán.

Shínigh sé a gcuid leabhair sular raibh cupán tae agus cáca aige i measc na múinteoirí go léir sa seomra foirne.

Maith thú Pat agus go raibh maith agat as do chuid tacaíocht go léír.

6th year Irish had a very special visitor this week. Previous principal Pat Rossiter officially launched his publication “Dordán”, a book to support LC Irish students in their studies.

Having developed his love of Irish here in CBS New Ross as a student, Pat pursued a career in teaching Irish and French and eventually returned to CBS New Ross as deputy principal and a teacher of Irish before becoming Principal and so it was only fitting that he launched his book here.

6th year students were given a signed copy each to help them with their Irish studies.

We are so proud of this wonderful achievement and are sure that this book will prove invaluable to students all across the country.

Lots of practice this week for 6th year Geography students whom are set for Tramore tomorrow for their LC Geography Fieldwork Day which is worth potentially 20% of their final result.

Ms. Murphy’s and Ms. Tighe’s classes got out of the classroom to practice their fieldwork measuring skills.

Best of luck to all students completing their fieldwork tomorrow.
