In 2014, to mark 50 years of the Rathkenny Revels, Bernie Price researched and wrote 𝘙𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘺 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘴: 𝘈 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯–𝘙𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘺 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺.

She spent years gathering photographs, recording memories, checking names and details, and piecing together the stories of the people who brought the Revels to life. It is an excellent read and an invaluable record of a very special part of Rathkenny’s community history.

Bernie is now helping to guide our 75th anniversary feature on Rathkenny Hall, now Rathkenny Community Centre, generously sharing her photographs, research and knowledge as CHALK TALK continues to gather memories from the locals.

This is very much an ongoing collaboration, and I’m so grateful to Bernie for trusting me to work alongside her as we bring the next chapter of Rathkenny Hall’s story to life, here on CHALK TALK and in the forthcoming Meath Chronicle Nostalgia edition.
....And there is still so much more of the story to uncover.

Teresa Durnin writes: “I fell down an emotional rabbit hole looking at photos - wonderful memories and so appreciative of all the wonderful mammies who did so much for us - I always remember the Irish dancing class fheis and all the mammies helping out and my own mammy always brought the milk from our farm - a lot of tears but very happy emotional tears.”
